I have been married to my husband for 17 years and I feel that taken away our family visit stops our children from having the proper time to bond with there father. Take away time for him to teach them to learn from his mistakes, as long as he is behaving and staying out of trouble he should be allowed to bond with his family.

With nothing to lose and nothing to gain what is expected from those men and women serving life sentences? Even if they never are released they can still be rehabilitated as human beings and with a life (even behind bars) a sense of normalcy or humanity will give them something to strive for and violence would be lowered. These men would keep a low profile and minimize trouble if they know they are earning a family visit or risking losing such a visit.

Lifers have the smallest recidivisom rate yet they don't get the chance to keep bonds with the family that keeps them going in a positive direction. Give the visits back and watch how the positive action brings even more positive actions from the inmates. Let them prove that they have learned their lessons and want to be productive members of society.

We need to concentrate on reform and rehabilitation, which is part of the reason recidivisom is so high. Its time for change, the system we have now is ineffective. Focus on the children, and family members, will make this a better society. Family visits should be allowed for inmates deserving of it, and are truly trying to make change.

I am not a criminal and I have never been in trouble in my life but I do believe in human rights. Although some people may do stuff that lands them in prison for life, they are still human beings and deserve to have basic human needs met. It would be a good idea to give these lifers (who sometimes feel as if they have nothing to lose because they have a life sentence causing them to act in a way that is detremental to themselves aswell as others around them) an incentive for good behavior. It could make for a more positive atmosphere in the prison and thus even make the guards jobs easier. Positive actions breed positive results.

I am a wife of a lifer and my husband has became totally reform with in the prison and i feel that we need family visits to keep our bond stronger. My husband has came from a level 4 to level 2 and we married in the prison because love comes naturally. He is a wonderful man that have changed while being in prison and i feel that one of the parole board recommendations is to have a strong family bond but how can that be when he is not granted family visits which i think is not right. I am speaking on behalf of me and other wives to say please grant lifers there visits back to have some kind of self respect and dignity with there family. Please give family visit back the families are willing to do what is necessary to stand behind there love one in prison. thank u A very concern wife.
