I agree with this petition. It is so hard for an individual, like myself to overcome the past. I am a first time offender, but 3 felonies. Breaking & entering, conspiracy, and grand larceny; I did no jail time and 5 years unsupervised probation. I have had several jobs turn me down because of my past. I worked at a college as a student employee for $400 a month and now working at a non-profit organization and working with felons. But what happens when I want to move up/on. What about us who do resent our idiotic decisions? Shouldn't there be an opportunity for us to redeem ourselves. Sure make it a process and be sure the individual is sincere and has evolved into a positive citizen. But don't cast us out for life. Give an opportunity to show that evolution for a criminal is possible. Give us a chance at a good paying desk job. Felons should not be forced to work for minimum wage.

Once the sentence and probation have been served - person remains clear for 5 year after- entire record should be cleared, expunged. Too many people cannot find meaningful employment because they made one mistake.

Please let us start a new life. We can see more clearly now, no longer lost in the shadows of evil. Bless us all in this tough journey called life.

I think if your a convicted felon you done crime and went to jail or prison then you should have your rights restored back ,an your rights to bear arms.Unless you keep getting into trouble an in up back prison or jail then you shouldn't get your rights back or anything else. But if your a first time affender they shouldn't hold that against you and they need to conceal your records an give you your rights back an to bear arms as long as your not a repeated felon

I live in NC and was arrested in 2005 but received my sentence in 2007. Its been almost 9 yrs since my arrest and almost 7 yrs since my conviction. I had no prior record before 2005 and have not committed any crimes since my release and completion of 36 months probation. Yet I'm still being punished by society. Its not fair to those who made that one mistake compared to those who repeatedly make all types of mistakes and get away with it.

I believe once someone is convicted, serves there time, and can provide evidence of being a good citizen after at least 5 years that there record can be sealed from the offense.

I think once you have served your time and so many years elapsed without further convictions you should have your record sealed or expunged.

I support the forgiveness bill , & believe the in special circumstances people deserve the right to move forward in there life's. There are good & honest people in this work who have learned there lessons & want to feel that by following the laws & being a productive member to society that they may one day have chance for a real life. But it get gets to start feeling very counterproductive each time a door gets shut in you face ... I hope that there will be someone holding a possession that can show some apathy for the people who wake up everyday striving to do better in their life's... Give us a chance to progress ...

I was younger when I got in trouble and it has haunt me for years. I have changed and my record stops me from moving forward in life financially because of my background.

I too cannot get a decent job because of my background. I have a family to take care of and with the few jobs I am able to obtain the pay isn't good enough to survive or to supply my family with better essentials. My family is being punished along with me for something I done long ago. It's not right nor is it fair.

I was a stupid kid and got 1 felony conviction in my early 20's. Since then I have had all of my civil rights restored by Governor Warner even the right to own, transport, buy and carry a firearm through the General District Court of VA as is required by VA law. I still have trouble getting employment because of this felony even though ALL of my rights have been restored. My felony was not of a sexual or violent nature and was over 25 years ago. Why do I have to suffer for the rest of my life because of one stupid mistake I made as a kid.

I have my restoration of rights and have earned my BA and working on my MPA, but I am limited to where I can work. I'm not able to achieve my highest potentials because of a something that happened 22 years ago. When will I stop having to pay for it.
