As the mother of an Iraqi War Veteran, I know what these soldiers go through. Since my husband is retired military, my prayer for my son while being deployed, as that "God would bring him home intact in body, soul and spirit. Our prayers were answered...but years later PTSD can come out and rear it's ugly head....the government must be there for our troops and their families.REPORT COMMENTS

I was physically attacked, robbed& beatten very badly two years ago Sept. 2011. This brought to surface memory a burglary of my home I walked in on aprox. 30 yrs ago in which I was attcked by three people, as well as a robbery I lived through in a restroom at a gas station near an air port. Now, I am trying to get help. Had I known, years ago, that the effects of those previous attacks would create PTSD, I would have sought out help, then. As it is, I Now need to process all three events, and maybe others. I Urge you to not only sign this petition, but to Continue to be diligent about spreading an awareness, even if we do Not get a National PTSD Awareness Day. Take it upon yourselves to Be Informed, and to help Inform Others... It is because I spoke to many VETS that I became aware of what I am suffering with. Since I feel as bad as *I* do, I can only imagine what VETS who have repeatedly, on a daily or monthly basis seen the horrows of WAR are going through, or what Others, in worse situations than what I lived through - go through every day. Again, please, keep informed and make it a Point to inform others. Bring it up in conversations, SPEAK about this disease, MAKE people Aware it excists. I sincerely thank you, everyone here, for your time.REPORT COMMENTS

War ptsd is battle fatigue, its shell shocked, its breaking down, you did or didn?t, its being terminally broken and now I see veterans downplayed to ptsd an illness you can get arguing with someone. Truly we all have our own breaking point but I think we have gone from being fed between the lines to serving prosperity at the front lines in risk of life and limb, day in day out, and more months than a year and now a complete disregard for recognition.
