After years of being abused (child and domestic) I went to therapy, they treated me for anxiety and depression, didn't work. Those are only a few of the side effects of the actual illness, another repressed memories. Once my therapist realized it's PTSD.... she told me she could no longer help me.... after 6 years.Sep 13th, 2011Someone from Watsonville, CA writes:
After Dad served in Korea and 3 stints in Vietnam, he changed. After his death the Doctors said PTSD had a lot to do with it. Unfortunately, my father died believing he was still filling body bags in Korea.REPORT COMMENTS

People need to remember its not just soldiers that suffer from this. I was diagnosed first with anxiety disorder then later found out I also suffer from PTSD. It is something everyone needs to be aware of!REPORT COMMENTS

often before being diagnosed corectly people can be diagnosed with many other conditions. While conditions like bipolar disorder and bpd do need to be treated, they do not need to be treated the same way as ptsd. So it is very important for a person to be diagnosed properly so that a treatment plan can be decided upon.REPORT COMMENTS

My husband, a WW2 100% disabled vet..Had PTSD till the day he died in 2004. I have seen what it can do to the man, family, and friends!.I just wish that there was something that I personally do to help!..There were many times that my husband would have taken his life if it hadn't been for his family!...In the end..he was in such pain and mental anguish, that he just gave up.REPORT COMMENTS
