The 5th and 14th Amendments assure us that no person shall bve deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. Yet law enforcement officers routinely view a companion animal as nothign but an impedimant to be dispatched in the quickest method possible. This deprives a citizen of their unique and irreplaceable property. If there is a non-lethal option, police should be compelled to use it, and if lethal force IS used, an inquiry akin to one the follows a fatal shooting of a human should follow.
