An animal is euthanized every EIGHT SECONDS in America, that is a PROVEN statistic. The only way to stop the killing of innocent animals and prevent more unwanted, unhealthy, unstable litters from being pumped out into our society is to pass spay/neuter laws. I have worked in a shelter, I have seen the ugly side of pet-overpopulation, I have seen dog after dog and cat after cat euthanized and put into a plastic bag. It is so sad to see these innocent animals loosing their lives due to irresponsible owners, greedy backyard breeders, puppy mills etc. Backyard breeders do not care about the love of a breed or the love of any dog, they pump out sick, genetically unhealthy litter after litter and add to a horrendous pet-overpopulation problem! Please pass a law soon, the top ten reasons why this law should be passed were just put down in shelters while i was writing this message.

Too many animals are being killed in shelters. If they aren't born, they won't end up in shelters. Spay and neuter is the answer.

Here is another item that really gets under my skin - stupid people who think they should breed their pets cause they are SO cute - come on people, wake up and go to your local humane society or animal shelter! There are SO many unwanted pets - it is pathetic, and if you ever VOLUNTEERED there you would see how cruel life can really be. Our domesicated best friends in life do NOT deserve such treatment. The best thing you can do for your furry friend(s) is SPAY/NEUTER them!

We desperately need laws enforcing spay/neuter. Or we will never get this crisis under control. As a rescuer and crossposter I'm faced with it everyday. The hundreds, the thousands that I can't save. It's not just about rescue, but preventing animals from needed to be rescued. That is why we have started a spay/neuter program in our area. We are doing out part to help, but we can't do it alone and we need this type of legislation! Each homeless animal that dies in the street or sits hopeless in a shelter is the product of a breeder, either intentionally or accidentally. Anyone who cares about these animals should support spay/neuter laws. Every time we spay/neuter we are saving lives! Who would want to contribute to the tragedy of so many dogs, cats, etc dying homeless which is what breeding does. And it's not just a population issue, but a health issue as well. If you love your dog/cat and want him/her to live a long healthy life you should S/N. S/N reduces the risk of reproductive cancers and infections especially if it's done before the first heat cycle in females and before puberty in males. I've seen it first hand in my years working in a veterinary hospital. Anyone that questions these types of laws should volunteer at a local animal shelter so they can witness pet homelessness first hand. See how many wonderful animals end up there and how many don't walk back out. Remember, for every dog/cat you produce, another one dies in a shelter. So, please support Spay/Neuter laws and lets start saving lives!
