These defenseless animals deppend on us to help them. we can't help them if stricter laws and penalties are not in place to deter them.

I am appalled that Patrick's abuser had her bail dismissed and was released. The laws, punishment and how animal abuse cases are handled only enable abusers to continue to torture and harm innocent animals. This needs to stop. "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Gahndi This does not say much for our nation!

A nation is only as strong as how they protect the weak and innocent. This includes animals. How can we be a nation that supports a multi-million dollar pet and livestock industry and yet turn a blind eye to obvious torture and attempted homicide? I realize "homicide" does not apply to animals, but there should be a classification for animal abuse. Michael Vick walked, but only because he was a sports celebrity, and I oppose the fact that he walked. No one else should walk from animal abuse. In addition, studies have shown that the abuse of animals, especially of domestic animals, is directly related to abuse of others, mainly children and women. Are we as a great nation really willing to turn our back on this heinous act and to take no action, in regards to this case, and in regards to setting policy and laws for any future case. I promise you, there are already many abuse cases that need judicial attention.

This is horrendous and the person who did this is dangerous. Please either lock them up in a jail of mental facility until they pay their debt to society AND get the help they need to ensure this will not be repeated.

It's time to evolve as humans and change the law's attitude towards companion animals. They are not inanimate objects to own like stereos or furniture, they are totally innocent and suffer greatly at the hands of abusers (not unlike small children) and punishments need to reflect that.

Let's all work too make this case set a precedence for animal abuse, torture and murder throughout our country and the world. It has to start somewhere, thank the maintenance man who found Patrick and having heart to bring him turn him over to the wonderful people who are working day and night to save this precious boy. Now it is up to all of us to push this forward and get laws on the books that are enforced for all types of horrors committed against innocent animals. The current laws favor the criminal and not the innocent. This needs too change; all animal cruelty laws across the country need too be heightened and and a greater push for federal animal cruelty laws as well as shelter reform and no kill mandates. In addition too: ending animals used in laboratory testing, medical research and ending canned hunts and beastility. Slaughter reform and promoting vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. Hunting and fishing regulations. Ending puppy and kitten mills while promoting spay and neuter projects and encouraging laws mandated to discourage breeding; including horses. In-acting laws to protect animals sold in pet shops and at 'flea markets.' Irradication of horse and burro slaughter. Does repetition not reveal the lesson? How many times does it take for someone to be convicted of child molestation, rape, elderly abuse, murder, serial crimes against humanity. Enter the psychiatric/prison system and while undergoing 'therapy' we learn they tortured, abused and murdered animals? These people know how too 'work' they system and continue to use the revolving door of prison? They learn to 'be cured,' 'rehabilitated' then claim to 'find God' which leads to their parole and are virtually slapped on the hand to continue to commit more crimes against the innocent? When will those we hire through voting every election do the job they claim they are going to do? When will you begin to listen to We the People rather then those who are lining your pocket books? Yes prisons are corporations and states make a lot of money through the judiciary system and criminals. But the fact remains those of us who can still vote... Are those of us who have not spent any time in jail or committed any crimes. We pay your salaries. Work for us. Work for Innocence! You have a grand opportunity to change the societal problems plaguing humanity. Election time is shortly upon all of us. Despite the Electoral College. We the People still have our voice and we will continue to speak for the innocent - All Innocent - animals, children women and the elderly. Please do not claim your stance one way then change once you are re-elected/elected.

Animals are not things, they are living, feeling creatures from God. This sweet dog suffered so much and it is a disgrace for his abuser to be let off.

When will our 'political leaders' finally say enough and protect those who can't speak for themselves. We are their voice! Anyone who will abuse a helpless animal, will no doubt abuse a child , the elderly, or anyone they think is weaker than they are. THIS MUST STOP!!

Please bring justice to this terrible excuse for a human being - I can't believe our judicial system could let this woman escape. Ms. Curtis needs to be held accountable and be PUNISHED for her actions.

How sad that in this day and age people do not have enough sensecence to take an animal to the SPCA or place them up for adoption-rather than to torture and mistreat them- what a shame. There is a God and she the evil person will have to answer to a higher authority some day. So sorry Patrick that she did this to you. I sure hope she has no children.

This is just disgusting that any living creature can be treated this way and not be prosecuted to the full extent! I wonder how certain people can sleep at nite knowing that they have a hand in the unjust treatment of a helpless creature, whether it be direct or indirect!
