I can not express how much we need and deserve this recognition. I've been in law enforcement for 25 years, and have never trained as much as I do now as a Veterans Affairs Police Department. PLEASE!!!! Please check into the training the Bureau of Prisons receives, versus the training of the Veterans Affairs Police Department, and explain to me why they deserve LEO and we do not. This is currently an injustice. Congress, please make things right. Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

Sorely needed legislation. As a supervisor I have 60+ year old Police Officers wading into fights with 19 year olds. Not only are these Professional Police Officers with decades of experience NOT (Emphasis Added) recognized as Federal Law Enforcement. These Officers are prone to injury at a higher frequency than their younger counterparts. One injured these Officers require longer recovery periods than their younger counterparts. As of now, these men and women cannot retire even after 20 years of service and must continue to 'soldier-on' until they are 65. It is both cruel and unusual to require these 'generians' to work in THIS profession until that age. 6-C. retirement should be demanded by the DoD for all civilian Police Officers for this simple reason. In the final analysis Policing is a young mans gameREPORT COMMENTS

I patrol every day in a patrol car with US Govt tags. I risk my life and safety for our young soldiers at Fort Riley. Why would I not be considered a LEO by congress? Is this a money saving venture?REPORT COMMENTS

Our job is no different that a civilian police officer that works off of a military installation. The dangers, decisions and liabilities are equally the same and we should be recognized as such.REPORT COMMENTS
