Doctors are trained to do their job, now the uneducated government steps in to tell them how to do their jobs or they will take away their right to practice medicine! This is our government illegally practicing medicine. Our gov is out of control, Doctors have a right to help their patients the fraction of people who abuse compared to the people with legit pain who take their medication as prescribed, is so minute, but our government believes they have a right to govern every aspect of our lives, I for one believe this is their way of getting people to commit suicide another name for population control, it's discusting. Get out of our health-care and let educated doctors do their jobs and help their patients!

"First do no harm".......Please allow our doctors to help us! Many people are losing all hope and giving up with the end result being suicide. The reality of this whole mess is that YOU are killing people. Can you live with that? At the very least, what you are doing is inhumane.

As a Chronic Pain sufferer, I am asking you, before going any further with any legislation or laws, to please research chronic pain conditions & make an effort to speak and connect with the people who are affected by this disease; it has multiple faucets. Please understand there is a multitude of individuals & families affected by some of the treatments that is the only option for some chronic pain suffers due to other conditions and medications they are taking; these laws are not fair to them. Everyone deserves to not suffer. Pain patients deserve not to be in pain, getting the compassion and care, the same as addicted patients are cared for by the same government.

46 year young chronic pain sufferer diagnosed in November 2014. Hydrocodone is, indeed, the only medication that helps. I've been prescribed others as well as trying various OTC medications. Restrictions are acceptable and, quite frankly because of what I know from over 20 years in law enforcement, highly encouraged. But to completely remove the medication is unreasonable.

My pain has been under control with a stable dose of pain medication. What you are putting me and others through who are suffering is cruel and inhumane. A gas chamber would be welcome kindness to the care you as politicians and rules are putting I aging me with.

I want go extend my sympathy to my fellow chronic pain sufferers. I am the 54yo from hatfield, ma with all the painful conditions. I am refusing treatment for cancer because i don't want to extend my life because i cannot endure any more pain. I read a article about the DEA shutting down pain clinics. Most of the clinics serve the elderly.they were abruptly cut off. As a result of this, some went to methodone clinics, while others have turned suicide and many have turned to heroin for pain relief. Isn't it ironic that the elderly who have chronic pain had their pain meds taken away and are now using heroin?!?! I have read and heard from others with chronic pain also turn to heroin for pain relief. It is 2:32 am here and i can't sleep because my body is throbbing with pain!! I have cancer and cannot get pain relief! That is why i will be ending my life. I just cannot continue to exist in pain. Being in severe pain day after day affects you physical, mentally and emotionally. You try to distract yourself from it, but can't because it is constant and you have no relief. The DEA are not doctors yet they decide about our health. By restricting our meds and making us suffer, it is not going to reduce the heroin crisis. People use heroine to escape reality, a bad home life, depression, anxiety, etc. They self-medicate because of the lack of mental health services. This is not our problem. The DEA lost the war on drugs a long time ago and they will never win. They are hurting innocent people. Our doctors can check us with urine tests to make sure we are properly taking our meds. I had a surprise urine test and passed. I don't mind taking one. They can weed out those who abuse drugs. Let the doctors do their job and treat us with life-saving pain meds because being comfortable means living, going without, we exist. The fricken government has no right to determine our health care needs. Unless the each earn a medical degree. The doctors creed is "First do no harm". All of us would rather be healthy than ill. I had to quit my job which i loved. I miss my active life-photography, gardening, hiking, skiing, etc. I am a prisoner of chronic pain! And now i get to suffer! By restricting our meds is abuse!!! The DEA needs to punish the real criminals like the drug dealers and stop punishing us! Sharon

My pain medication has been more that cut in half. I have severe arthritis where i get about 20 cortisone shots a year. I also have discogenic disease, fibromyalgia, severe permanent bursitis in my right hip, carpal tunnel syndrome and a mass in my right lung. I am only 54 yo and had both my knees replaced when i was in my 40's because of arthritis. I am suffering do bad. All i do is lay in bed and cry because the pain is unbearable. Before the med reduction i could walk with a cane and do about 1/2 hour activity before i had to lay down for the back pain for 15 minutes. I am no longer living, i am existing. I am going to be committing suicide. At least the pain will end.

Government, stay out of the patient and doctor relationship. Until you suffer chronic pain you have no right to tell a person who went to medical school and took an oath to treat suffering patients how to do their job. Walk in a pain patient's shoes and see how you like it. You will never stop the abuse. People in severe pain will do what they have to do. You're only making the epidemic worse. When you herniate 7 discs and have spasms and severe nerve impingement and can't get help like myself, see how it feels. Remember you were voted in and will be voted out. Any true American that believes in freedom should sign this. Wake up people!

Chronic Pain Warriors, I have read the letter Richard from NV is speaking of. This pain warrior continued to write many many letters to the CDC and Miss Houry finally replied to him. It's a must read, print and like Richard suggests attach it to your story and send to anyone and everyone. WE MUST FIGHT BACK! I WILL NOT LIVE MUCH LONGER IF THINGS GET WORSE FOR US LEGITIMATE CHRONIC INTRACTABLE PAIN SUFFERERS. WE CANNOT LET THE CORRUPT LAWMAKERS TAKE OUR QUALITY OF LIFE AWAY!! TAKE OUR LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION, LEAVING US ABANDONED BY THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY..MY BODY IS AT WAR WITHIN ITSELF AND EACH DAY ANOTHER PIECE DIES. CHRONIC PAIN PTS ARE BEING TORTURED, LEFT TO EXIST IN A BROKEN PAINFUL SHELL, WHERE IS THE HELP FOR THE SUFFERING!?!!

Please go to: http://www.painnewsnetwork.org/stories/2016/7/19/cdc-opioid-guidelines-not-rule-regulation-or-law Read the article by Pat Anson, Editor You can find a link there to copy the letter I received from Dr. Houry at the CDC who oversaw the development of "CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain - United States, 2016" Take a copy of it to your physician, pain mgt. physician, and any one else you can think of. Send a copy to your state and federal representatives. To the media. To the insurance companies. Anyone and everyone. It is a breakthrough letter. It dispels much of the misrepresentation, misinterpretation, and outright lies perpetrated by the politicians, the media, and insurance companies. My physician was ecstatic about it. He said he and his colleagues can use it to rebut any questions about their judgement in opioid prescribing. Send out your story and this letter. There is a 2 day drug abuse prevention summit in Las Vegas NV Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Contact ROTA@NPHF.org for information and registration. Gov. Sandoval is Vice Chairman of the National Governors Association. 40 governors of this group are trying to pass legislation like Mass. to make it much much harder to get opioids for pain. Stand up and fight. RM

I have multiple herniated discs in my neck and back. I relocated to Rhode Island recently and found that its impossible to receive treatment for chronic severe pain even though multiple mri's clearly show "severe spinal stenosis" especially in the cervical region. The doctors here totally lack any form of compassion. My life is a living hell with lack of sleep and pain, thanks to insensative morons that took an oath to treat the suffering and the sick. I now believe the oath some doctors took was acuually the "hippocritical" oath.
