I have suffered with back pain my whole life. Twelve yrs ago, i went to a new level. At one point I told my doctor I was gonna stop the pain if he didn't. He gave me Tramadol, Flexeril and Gabapentin. After 5 years they finally discovered I have Sciatica. After two surgeries, they can drill no more holes in my spine yet the nerve is still pinched. They found a drug that works in my system, but only gave it to me for five weeks after surgery. It is as if they do not believe me yet they have seen the damage on an MRI. It has been going on over twelve years of CONSTANT DEBILITATING PAIN. I love life, but if this what I have left, I pray it is short.:/Jul 11th, 2015Someone from Victorville, CA signed.

it's insane that the DEA is getting between dr's and their patients......all because of drug addicts/dealers........it's insane that we, chronic pain patients are being made to pay because of the addicts.........if druggies decided tomorrow that they like chemo drugs for some unforeseen issue-would the DEA step in between dr's and their patients and say "hope, no chemo for you" OF COURSE NOT...........I think it's insane and by doing this-they are making the problem WORSE........MUCH, MUCH worse.........as more and more people with chronic pain issues can't get the meds they need from their dr's, they are going to resort to illegal pain relief and because Oxy........is so expensive on the street-chronic pain patients are GOING to start using heroin for relief.........relief at a MUCH lower price.............to me (as someone who worked in healthcare for years) a MUCH better solution is to take the nasal narcan kit and make it available with no questions asked from pharmacies.......(much like family planning.....giving condoms no questions asked) it's stupid.........AND-narcan will not do anything except reverse an opiate narcotic overdose.......epi pens are available and they CAN hurt you if used incorrectly..........REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a home/bed bound patient. My doctor said he is not able to treat my pain with any narcotic medication due to his fear of losing his license since the FDA drug scheduling change. I have more than 5 debilitating illnesses and every day I struggle to bear the agony. My quality of life is ZERO. I believe my human rights have been taken away and there is nothing I can do but continue to suffer and waste away. Opiates do help the pain and I can't understand why I am being punished in this way by not having the pain treated by the only thing that works. My problem is inoperable and there is No hope...I've tried homeopathic remedies and still am searching for something to ease this pain...Yes, I've considered suicide but have not done it only because it would hurt loved ones. Please make changes so that myself and others suffering have the medications we need and do it soon!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I would rather live in a world full of contented drug addicts than a world full of pain and misery. Some people just want to blast their minds, and others are legitimately in need of physical pain relief. Can *you* draw the line between physical pain and mental pain? If someone says they need pain relief, they're probably telling the truth to one degree or another. Yes, opiates turn people into addicts, but a lifetime of constant pain can do far worse for someone.REPORT COMMENTS

Every day I watch my husband struggle with debilitating pain. He has fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, interstitial cystitis, and severe abdominal issues. He lost 40 pounds in less than 4 months- unintentally. So we went for a colonoscopy. When he woke fro the procedure he was told by the doctor performing the procedure it looked as if he had krones. I went with my husband to the treating doctor. This dr. Was rude-- told my husband he did not have krones but if he wanted it he could have it. This doctor stated he had ulceration so caused from the long term use 10 years-- of an RA drug. He had only been taking for 1 year. I read my husband's file there were more than 30 inaccurate statements in the file. Our primary care dr ridicules and will not take my husband seriously. My husband is angry. This doctor accused him of selling his tramadol. Every RA med he has tried results in severe side affects including internal bleeding, severe headaches on top of the daily pain. His only pain med is tramadol. He was referred to a pain management clinic where he was ridiculed laughed at and told to go see a psychiatrist. We cannot find a single doctor now who will treat him because he takes tramadol. His RA doctor will no longer write the prescription. He has run out of tramadol. Everyday I live in fear every unrecognized phone number is someone calling to tell me my husband is dead because he can no longer stand the pain. He is the most moral, honest person I have ever met. He has never taken an illegal drug in his life. I do not know what to do. It hurts me to watch him go through this when at every turn there seems to be nothing to help and every thing we try does more harm. I agree. Let the party drug crazy folks ruin their lives if they want to. It is the same as the mental health laws where caring families cannot get help for their loved ones be cause the have the right to be crazy. But somebody needs to take a stand for the decent law abiding people who need help. What ever happened to do no harm?REPORT COMMENTS

They told me to go to another pharmacy the mom and pop pharmacy charge $8.00 per pill, the medication i used to be able to get at chain pharmacy cost about .50 cents a pill. Is this legal? what do i do?REPORT COMMENTS

I have fibromyalgia and a year ago was injured at a water park while attempting to sit in a chair the back snapped off and I landed on my head and then flipped over twisting my neck and shoulder. Even though I have been on tramadol for more then 5 years my doctor is now trying to reduce my medications even though I'm now injured in my cervical spine and my pain is far worse then it ever was. I also spent 4 weeks covered head to toe with hives and suffered anaphylactic shock 3 times rushed to ER only to find out that I am now allergic to NSAIDS. To make matters worse the tramadol does not even reduce my pain to a 7 on the 0-10 pain scale without the NSAIDS. And because of government interference I am unable to get help for my pain I am 36 years old with 4 teens (13-18 years old) and most days I spend laying flat on my back staring at the ceiling because my doctor won't prescribe me pain medication so that I am able to sit up in bed let alone perform parental or spousal duties and care for my family. And the government that I spent years putting money into for disability won't approve me because they say at my age I should be able to find gainful employment. What job can I perform on my back other then a whore even then our government would find a way to take that away. When people are suffering in severe pain every day of their lives and doing EVERYTHING the doctors want PT/OT pain injections and trying all other types of medications and they still won't prescribe a pain medication to improve your quality of life what the hell is the point! These drugs are manufactured for a reason to relieve people of their pain but apparently u have to be a celebrity, politician or have cancer to get any ****ing help.REPORT COMMENTS

I think the government needs to stay out of anything that is related to medical care. I believe they have made the drug issues worse. They are just pushing more people to do heroin! And, when someone gets into some type of medical assisted program, they are labeled and looked down on. I have a family member that has experienced being treated like a criminal when they mention they are on suboxone to get off opiates. I don't understand how people can be so judgmental.REPORT COMMENTS

I agree that the government has no business interfering in a doctor/patient relationship. People that have chronic pain need some relief in order to get through each day. Everyone shouldn't have to suffer pain because of the few that abuse pain medications.REPORT COMMENTS

A "fantasy" ending to this retched Unconstitutional assault on pain patients is the following: Eric Holder would contract the most horrible chronic pain disease possile. Then, of course, he would be forced to live with the policy HE envisioned and manipulated through the FDA/DEA. I am someone who has suffered pain and wretched treatment as a result of the actions of the following: 1) Obama administration agency head stooges, 2) federal agency bureaucrat "drones", 3) uninformed, alarmist state politicians, 4) boutique lobbying groups, 5) unethical physicians and the medical clinics or "groups" they hide behind, 6) disinterested pharmacies, 7) temporarily confused (nevertheless, predatory) drug companies, and 8) any U.S. citizen who feels that so-called "drug addicts"--AKA "IRRESPONSIBLE PARTY FIENDS"--lives are more "precious" than the lives of chronic pain sufferers. Chronic pain suferers use prescription medication RESPONSIBLY. Perhaps Items #1 and #8 are the most damaging. NO, the lives of IRRESPONSIBLE PARTIERS, young or otherwise, are NOT more precious than the lives of chronic-pain sufferers. If those PARTIERS are young, that is, in a sense, tragic. However, if PARTIERS don't kill themselves off with drug overdoses, they will find other methods...automobiles, falls, fights...the list goes on. Irresponsible partiers will find a way to kill themselves off. Responsible chronic-pain patients should not have to suffer and be denied merciful medication, just because irresponsible drug ABUSERS lives should be considered more "percious". Gag!REPORT COMMENTS

I had a rare cyst on my spinal cord. It had been there so long nerves from spinal cord escaped and got in to the sheaths. I have severe nerve damage. I live in pain. I have worked to lower the doses which leave me down for part of the day. Please remember most of us have rare diseases. All of us would rather be healthy. I'd much rather be normal and not go through this. Thank you for reading my storey. Best Regards, NKBREPORT COMMENTS
