I think we all understand that there are highly irresponsible people out there who abuse the pain relief drugs many of us in chronic pain need just to cope day to day in doing the most menial of tasks for our families and to work and be productive citizens of society and not a drain on the welfare system. But just because many of those people Choose to act irresponsibly and put their lives at risks cannot be a valid reason to deny the rest of us the Last-Resort medications we've fought hard not to take to begin with, but then, once we find Any relief with them, then rely on them to continue in being able to work in and outside the home, and get any decent rest at all. Many alcoholics cause irreversible, horrific damage and death on our roads everyday. But I don't see anyone trying to shutter any bars or ABC stores because of not even just a "few" accidents and deaths! Yet, we, those with chronic pain, have to live in fear that the government will ban the ONLY relief we've found for our crippling, mind numbing pain just because there are Some deaths associated with Some bad doctors or Some abusers. When comparing the stats of those that die and kill due to the effects of alcohol to the same for opioid abuse, alcohol by Far is the Drug the government should be setting their sights on to regulate or ban more. My father had Unlimited access to all the liquor he wanted, sold repeatedly by the Same ABC store and did die as a result of his overconsumption of alcohol. Luckily he didn't kill anyone. Now I, with YEARS of seeing every type of doctor, Finally went to a pain management doctor and conceded to taking opioids throughout each day just so I can be out of my bed, instead of writhing in pain all day, everyday. I had to sign a contract allowing my Every medical doctor to disclose all my information to my pain management doctor, I have to provide a urine sample upon request with no warning, I have to go to the exact same pharmacist for Any meds I take. Pain management has never once even prescribed to me enough pain medicine to help me through a full 24 hours in all the years I've seen the exact same doctor because they are so afraid of being seen to prescribe too much medicine that can get them shut down. I live with the consequences. Because they are afraid of the current climate of the government singling out Legitimate pain management doctors for simply treating their patients according to their individual circumstances, I am the one who suffers with pain I shouldn't Have to have to endure when doctors have the Means to help me. But I don't ask for more than I'm prescribed because I understand their fear. And because I cannot drink alcohol and wouldn't go to the streets to offset what pain I don't have covered, I'm left to live with intense pain once my daily allotment of pain reliever has been used and I'm back in bed. All because Some people abuse the system and the only meds that help me. I don't "shop" doctors or meds. I know that that w

I have been suffering from fibromyalgia pain, and pain from a horrific accident. Plus PTSD, severe anxiety and depression. My Dr made me jump through hoops to get any pain relief. I was humiliated by her staff, ridiculed, and talked down to. All to be cut off my meds 3 months later.

Doctors got me hooked on pain meds since I was 16 years old due to my Crohns disease. Because they don't want to deal with me, they give me high doses of methadone and treat me like an animal. They get you hooked then blame, shame and desert you. This needs to stop.

It is ridiculous that people with chronic pain are treated as sub-human and worthless to society. Yes, there are people who abuse narcotics and any drug that will alter their minds or numb their emotions, but those people do so ANYWAY. Preventing legitimate chronic pain patients from getting legitimate relief leads to two results: they will do what people without chronic physical pain do (buy off the streets) or stop participating in life. Either option basically leads to the same results: lack of a real life and in most cases, death. If the government was more concerned with helping the people they are sworn to protect and serve, they would spend more time and money finding ways to heal the problems that cause people to need drugs (whether legally or illegally), or come up with a new drug that helps the problem of pain without leading to tolerance or addiction. It's all about money- who you know- and money. It's almost time for people to rebel against this tyranny and demand equal rights and to be treated a humans instead of slaves whos only purpose is to serve those with money and power. I'm tired of being in pain and tired of being treated as a waste of life because I can barely move without debilitating pain. I have no problem starting or joining a movement to demand equal and fair treatment. I don't know how to start it and I don't know of one that exists. If you do, please let me know so I can join in the fight against the abuse and the degradation the government and medical community heaps upon people with legitimate problems. And that even includes those that are just addicted to something because they are emotionally and spiritually crippled.

You kill w/o remorse . You watch people suffer. And you do nothing. You think you are correct in what your doing but down deep in what soul you have left............ You will answer to the only god there is one day!. Your own thoughts will condem you to hell if you don't change. He will step in this time!. He is going to shake the very ground you walk on. : a wake up call if you will : I do have sympathy for you even though you don't know what that means.

This world is becoming so full of greedy people. They don't and won't change a thing unless some form of money is made. They know by eliminating a true pain medication, They get to test "desperate people" with other means of medication that a patient will use long term and more expensive. I suffer from Chronic Pain. I can relate to all of you, And I feel horrible reading these post. People resorting to suicide that's inhumane. I hope they burn in hell for this...

My Dr. of a decade had his license suspended (voluntarily). I was left with no prescriptions for weeks (except Paxil).. My anxiety, PTDS, depression (my father died less than two weeks ago).. The Psy. I went to saw how much I was taking on a DEA list and actually asked me if I had confidence! Severe somatic symptoms, ulcerative colitis, rashes result from lack of sleep. He said I would be a liability. He was able to easily pull up my records of what I taken on the DEA website. I am only on Paxil now. I have no record. I believe a class action lawsuit should be done. Walgreens has been helpful to me but they fear losing their license. Our taxes pay for an agency to pick on Drs. and Pharmacists? And leave the patient with nothing. The Diversion Control Unit is ridiculous.

I am 58 years old I was hit head on by a pick up truck in 1983 .I was told I would have problems with my back in the future . well the future is here I suffer every day as I have RA Degenerative disc disease torn disc and spinal stenosis . also diagnosed with central pain syndrome . and fibromyalga. To be called a drug seeker is ridiculous . But that's exactly what they think as soon as you walk into a doctors office and say you have pain . I presently am on disability cause of my health . I can't find help anywhere so I hope the government is keeping owr streets clean . you will send more people to their grave this way . we need to have a relationship with our doctors and we can't because you have made it Impossible for real pain to be treated . Shame on you why don't you go after drug dealers instead of doctors . I would give anything to be out of pain for one minute and I can't because you Dea are killing good people to punish a few bad people . You are wrong and I hope before I die you change these laws to protect us to let us decide to choose what is best for us .

I didn't understand the scope of this problem until I myself was in severe pain. Even though there is plenty of evidence that I have 3 slipped discs, twisted spine and tilted sacrum, I was denied any pain medication. I have spent three excruciating months, so far, with nothing but motrin and muscle relaxers, and a referral to a neurosurgeon that is 7 weeks away. I cannot sit, I can only stand and lay. I've spent most of these days sobbing and praying for relief. I have no history of ever asking any doctor for pain medicine. Look at my records! Talk to my previous doctor, who put me in this position by giving me a side adjustment. He is not a chiro or a DO. I called around for another doctor and was treated like a drug addict. There should be a law protecting people with real pain issues. I can easily see where suicide is the only possible answer for someone who has gone through this type of pain for months or years. Please, I beg you to protect and help people who have pain issues. Doctors should be mandated to help their patients with pain. People cannot heal well, or heal at all when they are fighting this amount of pain. Motrin doesn't help these issues!

After 45 yrs of being with one practice, I'm being forced to find a new primary care physician to treat my COPD, Blood Pressure, and can make referrals for my chronic pain issues related to accidents, injuries, and surgeries over the years. My PCP had me on a combination of a med for Spinal Injuries and Hydrocodone that allowed me quality of daily life and do to the things many take for granted for the past 5 years, but no more.....

The task of seeing the doctor and pharmacy to receive my Norco RX go so far beyond the realm of healthcare now. The new law categorizes a patient needing treatment for painful conditions as drug seekers by Doctors/Nurses/Pharmacists, etc., and is extremely demeaning to say the least. I have a neurological autoimmune disease called CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy). This disease causes your own body to attack your peripheral nervous system eating away the Myelin (covering) leaving us in excruciating pain. My disease is rare and well documented by pathology. Each month when the time comes to renew my pain medication, the stress I endure wondering if I will even be receiving my prescription and how I will be treated when I take it to the pharmacy only adds more stress to the pain I deal with every day. I have been on the same dosage for quite some time and have tried many many options as it isn't my desire to take the next step to Morphine. My primary is the one that prescribes my pain med but doesn't communicate with my Neurologist therefore I am the one that suffers. Each month when I take my RX to the pharmacy I am met with a ..you can't have this yet ..oh wait..I am sorry I guess you can ..(Shirk) Why has it become our governments business to intervene between our doctors and us instilling fear and not allowing them to properly treat their own patients. When did it become our governments business to intervene and intimidate our pharmacist making them fear reprisal if they fill a RX one day early. This whole thing has become nothing short of a nightmare for those of us that have documented diseases that render us in painful conditions. HIPPA was designed to protect Doctor/Patient confidentiality and now Police, Judges and every person working at a pharmacy can see what and when I take pain medication and in my opinion is a direct violation of the HIPPA law! Our government does not belong in our medical files!

I am 82 years old, and more active than many far younger than I; I am an artist, a gardener, a fashion knitter, and great-grandmother of 17 children, among many other things. My chronic back and hip pain has been well managed ever since I had a failed spinal fusion 5 years ago. But suddenly my pain management doctor is removing the Norco which has given me a good quality of life, even though I have always taken the minimum dose and have never taken all of a prescription, have never asked for more, etc. What in the world is our government doing? They let drug dealers stroll across our border and find sanctuary in many places, while law abiding productive senior citizens are denied the medications which would prolong their productivity and ability to contribute positively to society! I am disgusted with our government!

Unless experienced, it is difficult for many to comprehend the enormous psychological and sociological ramifications precipitated by chronic pain and the physical suffering, for some, is virtually ineffable to explain. It is a tragedy that our health care system has failed to classify and treat this as a disease and it's claiming precious lives everyday. I still cannot fathom how many in the medical professional will tout aiding the suffering in other countries, but fail to give the same treatment to individuals here in the country where they live and make their livelihood. Why should individuals for whom opioids are prescribed only as a necessity for quality of life be turned away? This grievous injustice needs to be rectified.
