I have been very fortunate that I found a board certified pain mgmt Dr and have been seeing him for many years. I am now moving out if state and am petrified that I won't be able to find a Dr who will treat me much less with any respect. With the way things are right now the medical community is telling those in pain that they aren't worth being treated like a human being. What is wrong with this picture??Sep 5th, 2015Someone from Dallas, TX signed.

It's awful. The terror we face while doing our best to fulfill our Oath. Human rights abuses right under our noses. Public health crises.REPORT COMMENTS

When will someone from the government step in and stop this violation of human rights? I suffer chronic pain in my back. An Epidural with depo-medrol, caused my disability when the Dr. Injected this into my spinal cord causing the worse pain possible..Arachnoiditis, I was given this disease by the medical community, and they want to deny the very meds that help me. Not all Drs are criminals there are many who are very compassionate toward s their patients. First they need to stop the harm Drs are causing trying to treat pain, this procedure is not FDA approved and banned use in some countries..There are many of us suffering from this medical harm they are trying to hide.pLease help us, to end this abuse.REPORT COMMENTS

100 million Americans are in pain. We are at risk of being in worse pain. Every drug that works, especially so the opioids and cannabinoids, must be made legal and available to treat us. Politicians who refuse to understand this, must resign from office or be removed from power.REPORT COMMENTS

I have a friend here in Portland who is in great pain due to arthritis, the disintegration of her spine, and a hairline fracture to her collar bone. I wouldn't want her to suffer any more than she is. She carefully monitors her Vicodin intake, and uses an over the counter pain killer in between.REPORT COMMENTS

I had my next level fusion, L2, before it had reached a level of instability that it was necessary. But because I was unable to get relief from the pain, I chose to have the inevitable surgery early in hopes it would help calm down the pain. It didn't. I've had 4 back surgeries, L2-S1 and both SI joints. But the local pain clinic can't "understand why my nervous system is still firing so much" - their answer? They wanted me to go see a shrink for an ADHD diagnosis! I've been through two behavioral pain psychological evals and they both said the same thing. Low risk to abuse; already use many strategies to deal with pain; don't catastrophize and continue to remain active despite the pain. Yet even though opioids give me a quality of life I don't have without, they don't believe I should have them. Like all of the other posters, I have been dealing with chronic pain since 2003 and have lately been shamed by pharmacists and no longer am able to find a doctor to treat my pain because they are afraid of the DEA coming after them. This is not right! Welcome to the Police StateREPORT COMMENTS

I completely agree with everything in this bill, I am personally sick and tired of going to my doctors office and having to deal with the Secretary who thinks I'm a drug addict. She tries everything she can to make me feel like less of a person.. Just because I have to take medicine for pain on a daily basis. You have no right to judge me for that.REPORT COMMENTS

No one knows what it is like to live in chronic pain, unless you are in those shoes. I used to be very active, snow ski, hiking and Mtn bite riding. I loved my live. Now it takes everything I have to get up each morning and try to go to work. I work then come home and go to bed. Can't afford not to work. I pay 6000.00 out of pocket every year just to have a little bit of life . this is to get my injections and medications. Then to be made feel like I am a drug addict is indescribable. Everyone knows there are people out there who abuse medication. All medications not just some, but to make the ones who truly need it , who are in pain day in and day out, is not treating the whole patient. Life is hard for everyone, but for those of us who live with this life tenda to be unbearable. Please stop making us suffer even more for your irresponsibility and pride. Thank you for your time.REPORT COMMENTS

This is such total bs...I went to my doctors appointment today for pain management. And I've been going there for about a year now, well the doctor gave me an ultimatum and said that I had to get some type of epidural in my upper back/neck, and one in my lower back and I said I wasn't comfortable in getting any injections that I just want to continue getting the medicines I been taking (I've been on these meds for 9 years!!). Well then the doctor proceeded to tell me I HAVE too get the injections or I will not be given my medicines anymore. That's is so wrong!!! Anyways, I was in tears because I need my meds, and also because I'm not going to be forced to do something I'm not comfortable with. The nurse told me its all because of the DEA!! I'm so freakin upset & mad. The government needs to stop controlling the people's lives!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I fractured my c-7 and bulged to discs in my back. I lost my job and was forced to move from Phoenix, Arizona back home to Virginia. Because I moved, the doctors in Virginia labelled me as a pill seeker and I didn't receive the surgery that my doctors in AZ described as not optional. They said there would be long term damage if I did not remove a piece of bone that had lodged against my spinal cord. It's been 2 years since my accident and I have been treated like a criminal since the day I stepped foot back in Virginia. I was forced to go through physical therapy with no medication. And to this day, I live every day in pain. It's like being tired but no matter how much you sleep, it never goes away. I haven't felt "comfortable" in years. I actually don't even remember what it feels like to not be in pain. I refuse to go on disability because I feel that if I had the help that I needed, then I could return to the work force. I work whatever jobs I can to get by but my pain hinders that as well. It's pretty hard to go to work when you haven't slept in over 24 hours just because the pain wouldn't subside long enough for me to fall asleep. I feel betrayed by my own medical system. I have been cast aside and forgotten, written off as just another drug addict instead of just being heard with an open mind. I'm obviously not an ignorant or stupid person, and I could be of great use to society if I actually felt like I was part of our society. I am terrified to go to the doctor out of fear of the way I might be treated again. I was kicked when I was already at the lowest point in my life. Then pushed aside to watch society walk past while I lay on the ground, unable to move forward, physically, or emotionally. Is this really what our society has become? We are so advanced, like Sparta we cast our weak or injured off a cliff to fend for themselves while the rest of society continues on without us. Pain is something no one else can see or feel, but they sure can tell you how its "not that bad." So thank you medical system for physically, mentally, and emotionally scaring me for the rest of my life.REPORT COMMENTS

It doesn't matter what you say or explain or discribe. Government can only compel or coerce. They will always choose to protect liabilities of lobbyists lawyers. The scramble of legislation dismissed our realities for the protection of their money. Like blaming the gun for the actions of a lunatic. They don't blame the car when same lunatic ran out in front of me to accomplish the same motive. My dr. complains he can't treat for the patient, but for the liability of someone's money. So their bilfold is safer I lose reasonable options to get treatment.REPORT COMMENTS

i have been suffering from Pudental Neauralgia and interstitial cystitis over fifteen years. I have experienced chronic abuse from physicians who do not believe me, uneducated about my disorders, calling me an addict. I needed some meds for my depression and anxiety, they dismissed me. Rejected and unable to get proper medical help. These experiences had lead me to a mental break down. I have so much anxiety to enter a doctors office, I cry and am traumatized all over again. These doctors are abusing my heart, mind, and soul. Chronic pain is very hard to deal with on a daily bases. We need professionals who are compassionate and handle us with great care. Hopeless and aloneREPORT COMMENTS
