Frankly it is a SIN to punish patients who get treated for pain by doctors who prescribe opioid medications. It is a SIN, a moral injustice, and even Pope John Paul II called for alleviating pain by the prescription of narcotic medications. They work, that is why they are prescribed. The United States governments "war on drugs" is immoral and a SIN also. The United States government should and will someday get out of personal lives either by peaceful means, or by force. You have no right to make it harder for pain patients to get the medication they need by viewing doctors as drug dealers. Alcoholism is by far the worst epidemic in the United States and you hear nothing of any significance on how to reduce that by the "experts". IT IS TIME FOR THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO STAND DOWN NOW! -

I have been on pain medicine for the last 15 years hydrocodone 6 times a day 10 milligrams and 2 years ago I asked my doctor if I can get off the medicine and he suggested that I start taking another medicine and not only that but also with the medicine I was taking so I was taking more it was morphine 100 milligram I refuse to take it I was then told that I could have a different medicine which I thought was to help me get off my medicine and it was the 15 milligram oxycodone 15 I was then prescribed a month later the 30 milligram oxycodone I did not want to say nothing to my doctor anymore because I figured he would give me more and more drugs that I do not want and I dunno I can go elsewhere to get my help where I have but my problem is the DEA comes in that's my doctor down for what reasons I don't know and then boom I can't have my medicine for the chronic condition that I live with from day to day which my doctor said to me I would be this way the rest of my life and I need to adjust and learn that is part of life process and I will be in this type of pain in my lower spine I was injured when I was 5 years old which left me with a spinal condition that will never be fixed I have no splain it was removed I fractured my skull I was pronounced dead at a brought me back now I'm here to tell the DA or whoever the hell is in charge this man and dad at it till I'm dead hello rise from the grave for treating people with such grief I am an American citizen I pay my dues I do as I'm told and now the be treated like an animal I am ****ed off lying in my bed like a animal caged only because of my fears in my body I will beat these fears if I can't have my medicine I will find a way to get my body right and lord only knows when but my faith is with the Lord so I will be there and when I get there you will hear my voice is more and more because it done wrong and it's not right and I don't give a damn who you are we are Americans and if you treat Americans like Americans there is no Americans left and I promise you there's a duck poor Americans we will unite together and show you are so lucky I had this country should be ran and quit letting it get run with the high paying politics and all the people that are so corrupted from the businesses fearing the lose our jobs we live with that every freaking day of our lives paycheck to paycheck why you people live with millions and millions and only want to know where you can get more millions for your stash so you'll have more what we do you have it is totally on profile it's no wonder the world around us is wanting to come over here and mess this world up because you know you're making it part of that world industrialization modernization and greed and that's the biggest one is cause this country to totally go upside down then if God can come today it would be the best thing in the world that I am NOT in control to have them, but when he does I hope you are readyI just want to let you know there's a right way aREPORT COMMENTS

For the love of God, please stop hounding our doctors. Let them treat us the way we should be treated. They did not go to school for all those freaking years to be told they can not practice medicine and help people who need their help. Being a doctor is a calling! Let them do what they were called to do! As a lifelong pain sufferer, I beg this of you! Have some compassion and for once put yourself in our shoes. We don't want to be on this medicine.....we. HAVE to! It's not an easy life for us when all we know is pain. Why would you take what little Ray of light we have and cause our life to be more horrible. You do not understand what you are doing to us! We deserve pain relief. No one should have to live like I do.REPORT COMMENTS

Fewer than 5% (stats are closer to 2-3%) of pain patients become addicted. Why is the CDC, DEA, PROP, FDA, etc. working so hard to punish patients who truly suffer and need their pain medication just to attain some level of functionality, along with the physicians who prescribe for them, in order to prevent "addiction"? The actions of these agencies are the CAUSE of legitimate pain patients turning to street drugs and suicide and they should be held accountable for doing so. Get the government out of our medical care! Quit discriminating against people in pain; we didn't ask for it. No one would choose a life of chronic, intractable pain and disability.REPORT COMMENTS

I have suffered with Trigeminal Neuralgia for 9+ years. I've endured 4 brain surgeries, all failed. THERE IS NO CURE, as with many chronic pain conditions. I've always been labeled a "life of the party" personality. I love life and try to be positive. When you are in the grip of the "suicide disease" and "the most painful condition known to mankind", it's very difficult to be positive. All I can think of is I WANT IT TO STOP! In my situation, the opiates don't actually stop the electrical bolts that explode across my face. They do however, help with what I call the in between pain. An intense burning. They help me be able to get a little rest between the horrible strikes. At times, my family begs me to go to the ER, i made that mistake a few times, desperate for help! I refuse to put myself through that again. The nurses have never heard of it. If the Dr has, it's been a short read from a book in med school. I've had to explain my condition in between pain attacks and they just look at you like yeah right, you can't be hurting that bad! And you don't need more drugs than what you're taking. I sometimes feel like I'm on an island all alone with nothing but pain.REPORT COMMENTS

Those of us who are truly in severe pain don't want to be taking opiods. I know that if I am having a better day and my Trigeminal Neuralgia is at a low roar, I don't need to take my Dilaudid. But when my face pain comes screaming back i need help. Trigeminal Neuralgia is called the suicide disease for a reason. I have had this for 12 years. I think I would have commit suicide by now without the help of a wonderful team of doctors who cares about doing the right thing for me. The DEA needs to back off and allow physicians to do there job. Doctors are quite adept at seeing who really needs there help and who is just "doctor shopping".REPORT COMMENTS

I have had 2 previous back injuries and was recently in an accident where the other driver ran a red light. That caused new injuries to my back. Thankfully me primary care physician treats my pain with the meds that work. I also have severe arthritis. As a result I'm constantly in pain. I see a neurologist & a rhuematologist. I'm not just imagining the pain. It's ducomented. The DEA under the Obama administration is targeting the wrong people. They should be looking to get meth, cocaine, heroin and the like off the streets.REPORT COMMENTS

I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, the most intense pain known to medicine. Yet I have been to ERs where they doctor didn't even know what it was and have had 3 brain surgeries for pain yett still get treated like a drug addict. I am honestly scared to go to a doctor with my pain because I'm afraid I will snap on the next doctor that treats me like a drug addict. and it's not their fault like this petition says they are being taught to treat me this way. I have also had many doctors tell me they would help me but their hands are tied. I've had them try to send me to a pain clinic and the pain clinics refuse me either they don't treat TN or they say I'm to rare and complicated.REPORT COMMENTS

My daughter suffers from EDS (genetic cartilage disorder) which contributed to her developing POTS. High levels of pain are a daily battle along with joint dislocations, deteriorating ligaments, digestive issues, cognitive brain fog, fainting, numb limbs, and other disabling symptoms. Her conditions are not fully understood or widely treated in the medical community. Her pain doc did genetic testing and found she is highly resistant to opioid abuse, has a high pain threshold (despite docs saying she needed to "toughen up"), and doesn't respond to most pain drugs. Despite this, the DEA and our society has made her and her docs seem like criminals for trying to keep her going and productive. So many give up the fight because they can't take the physical pain and the emotional/psychological pain of being marginalized for seeking medical care.REPORT COMMENTS

I have DDD, protruding disc in cervix and lower lumbar. Arthritis, and a hip that is deformed. I cannot believe the reaction for 10/325 hydrocodone and changes (the people who have changed this in Oct 14) That you have to go to a doctor every month and pay for a Dr. Visit every month instead of the original 3 month refill. Then the clinics nurse practitioners no longer can write the perscription, you have to go to a Dr. Then they make you go to a Pain management Dr. That costs a fortune to go in as nd have a perscription written. Then, the meds you are on is helping but you are still in pain and they want to reduce what you are taking. A special a list fee I s $80. Or more a month just to go get a perscription. This is ridiculous. Primary care Dr. Won't e v e n write them a ny more. This was bad enough a few years ago, but now it is apparently every Doctor is taking all patients off pain meds, when we are in pain.REPORT COMMENTS

I truly feel for the people who overdose. I have a simple solution. Prescribe narcan a dose is under a dollar if I remember right if a person is given opioid meds for pain also prescribe the narcan to go along with it. I don't drink or smoke but I do have. Pain luckily I have a good Dr. He has went through hell for 2 yrs. for his prescribing habits. He is very careful and shouldn't have to look over his shoulder for doing the right thing. Please read these stories a make the right descsions on pain control thank youREPORT COMMENTS

i actively stopped taking pain meds because my dr has said he won't touch them with a 10 ft pole any longer. He is a pain management dr - I have had every kind of procedure except surgery on my neck for 13 years including over 16 nerves burns at c2-c4 which he admitted were barbaric in intensity, yet I live every day one day at a time because of the chronic pain, migraines and other head (torn ligaments that attach to the c-spine, both the alar and transverse) myofacial pain syndrome, severe thinning at c5 with arthritis in my neck and right shoulder from a car accident that wasn't my fault. She had no license, no insurance, no registration and 30 seconds of her inattentiveness has caused my life to change forever. Now, I can't get treatment either?? Something has to be done to allow us to live our lives too!REPORT COMMENTS

Walk a day in our shoes, oh wait that's if we can walk!!! Ask any of us when we have had a refreshing night sleep. For those of us that need to work and make it through an 8 hour work day if not more when the pain you are actually in makes you sick to your stomach or you are in so much pain you can't even make dinner for yourself. That's us, the people who live with Chronic daily pain from migraines, fibromyalgia, back pain, neuropathy, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus and the list goes on. How can you control someone's life if you do not live with one OR all of these on a daily basis? Why do you want to keep us in daily pain??REPORT COMMENTS
