Let's get rid of this ridiculous practice of messing with our biological clocks. It's an antiquated practice which has no benefit but can result in chronic fatigue and lead to disease. Time to abolish it!!! -

Being a native Hoosier, I lived most of my life without following this repulsive tradition. Until one day our Governor thought it would help our state. I will never forgive Mitch Daniels for adopting DST in IN. It is of no benefit and harm it cause the average person greatly outweighs any misconceived positive. Please end this now!REPORT COMMENTS

Daylight saving time is disruptive and purely useless in the 21st century. Despite common belief, it didn't even benefit farmers and many were opposed to the daylight savings act of 1917. It was to benefit war. We haven't been in war for 76 years. I strongly disagree with daylight savings time.REPORT COMMENTS

Getting rid of daylight savings would be more beneficial than keeping it to many Americans. Also the idea of making the contiguous 48 states have 2 time zones rather than 4 would be great choice but not necessary whereas getting rid of daylight savings is necessary.REPORT COMMENTS

Please stop the ridiculous practice of changing time every spring and fall, I work long hours every day and am not getting any younger. It is extremely difficult to get your body to adjust and messes with your sleep cycle. My pets also have a difficult time adjusting. No common sense whatsoever! Please politicians stop messing with the time. Unless you can turn back time completely and make us young again!REPORT COMMENTS

Please end daylight savings time, we're not saving anything anymore. This began when people still used candles to light their homes at night, we don't do that anymore. It disrupts our internal clocks, it's unnatural to wake up before the sun and try to beat it to work. It causes more problems than it solves and we need to return to standard time. The days become naturally longer on their own, we don't need to maximize it by having an 8pm sunset making us want to stay up later to only have to wake up earlier in the shock of the morning darkness. It's not safe for the kids going to school in darkness either or for people to drive fatigued. There is no benefit to this, the energy we save at night is being wasted in the morning thus breaking even, if we save anything it's because we're cutting corners in our routines to attempt to be on time for work, like making/eating breakfast the most important meal of the day!REPORT COMMENTS

The powers that be have (again) suggested to eliminate the switch from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) each spring and instead go to Atlantic Standard Time (AST) year round (AST is the same as EDT, but it sounds like a ?new? idea). This was done 30 years ago during the energy crisis with the intent to ?save? energy, presumably giving more daylight time in the winter evenings, saving electricity and heat. (Of course, this means less daylight in the winter mornings, so presumably we don?t use lights in the morning to get ready for work or school). At any rate the energy savings claim has been proven to be minimal if at all. Now the powers that be want to try this again under the new name AST and the new claim that we can work or study better if not subjected to the one day of the year that we lose one hour of sleep. Since we typically sleep over 2500 hours year, it is surprising that this is such an issue, especially since we gain it back in the autumn change. At best it is an annoyance. Now those who fail to remember the past are condemned to repeat it (George Santayana). When we tried this experiment before, the winter mornings were so dark (8 AM sunrise), that the hour not lost in sleep was lost in the 100 hours trying to cope with driving to work in the dark, or worst yet, for kids in danger of being hit by cars, trying to stay awake for studies in the absence of daylight, or get to school in the trauma of the dark, let alone be aware of predators lurking in the alleys. For those who have lost track, we used to change clocks to EST after 6 months, then it went to 5 months, now it is 4 months; it was 2 months in 1975; so we are heading to zero. So say goodbye to morning daylight. Your tax dollars are at work. And, by the way ? don?t leave the lights on; it?s just too much fun trying to find your keys in the dark.REPORT COMMENTS
