I am the current Board of Education Chairman for Pierce County Ga., and serve on the board of directors for the Georgia School Boards Association. I have just left a meeting that we had 18 middle and high school students sit on a panel, and we asked them many questions. The question about cell phones is school was asked, and the vasy majority of those students thought it would be very disruptive. When i asked about using this technology to limit the signals coming in and going out of class they were unanimous with their approval.Feb 10th, 2011Someone from Conyers, GA signed.

Cell phones are driving the high school teacher's nuts! This sounds like a good solution to a growing problem.REPORT COMMENTS

As a Computer and Technology teacher...this may be a nice tool to have, but with teacher cuts, furlough days, and education budget cuts this is an expense that should be avoided at this time. For now....implement good old fashioned classroom management to avoid cell phone usage at school. To address some of the comments listed below, the calculators that are required now allow students to cheat too.... bullying will take place with or without cell phones. We need to educate students, parents, etc. to avoid this. Is it a unit taught throughout our school and in my classroom. The students are listening:) For a company to send a petition to be signed about technology and recieve the direct profitability of such a technology... appears wrong to me. Lets think about the students, the teachers cuts, ways to improve the responsibility of our students in the use of technology... educate... that is what we do:)REPORT COMMENTS

I am a teacher and constantly have to deal with students using their cell phones in class. We used to be able to take their phones if they were using them, but we no longer are allowed to do this. Once again, we are given responsibility without any power. I support a technological way to stop the use of cell phones in the classroom.REPORT COMMENTS
