These people need help. They are mothers and fathers who are scared and who had to leave everything behind. If they had the option to stay, they would have, but their children needed something better. Let them come. Throw them a party at the airport, celebrate their courage. We need to do better. We need to help them. Because it is the right thing to do. -

My father was a child refugee after WW2 and the civil war in Greece. Syrians are in a desperate situation and we cannot turn them away but need to welcome them. Imagine you are being bombed and then no one will help you? The nearby countries cannot shoulder any more of the burden and those of us with means need to help out. We can take over a million Syrian refugees and that would still be unnoticeable amidst our total population. Many in my community are ready to help however we can.REPORT COMMENTS

The Statue of Liberty says it welcomes in the poor and unfortunate from the world. We the people of America claim that this is the land of the free, opportunity, and the great nation that was created by immigrants from all corners of the world. We like to brag about our accomplishments in WWII, but not quite so much about how we turned our backs on Jewish refugees for many years following the war. We now have a chance to learn from our mistakes and take in thousands, if not millions of Syrian women and children who are fleeing a living HELL. But we don't; we instead have talks about whether or not we should ban an entire religion, 1.6 billion, from entering this country and whether or not certain ethnicities are rapists and criminals. Very sad that this is the population of America that Congress seems to want to follow. Germany is doing what our constitution and national symbol of freedom claims to do, they are actually rolling up their sleeves and helping out Syrian refugees. Why? Because they want to grow their economy, they know that these people desperately need help, and most importantly: it's the humane thing to do. 🙏🏼 Present-Day: 🇩🇪 > 🇺🇸REPORT COMMENTS
