I am ashamed to say that the Air Force had contributed more than its fair share to destructive inter-service rivalry. If the priority of the AF brass is The F-35, so be it. I'd say that's their prerogative. Let them have it and go, do, and be! Still there's no reason not to allow the Army retain access to life-saving close air support. Can cover more Ground and deliver a more potent weapons package. Nothing the Air force presently or future missions planning can match this payload.
