Suicides are hidden and reactions come out suddenly just like PTSD. There should be some kind of treatment because like a buddy I had in Afghanistan who cracked under PTSD, there could be some marine, soldier, etc who suicides for lack of treatment.REPORT COMMENTS

I watched my son barely leave the house for three years; let alone his room! I had to beg someone at the local Vet Center to help me. I was told to take him to a local hospital if I felt he was going to hurt himself or anyone else. Yeah right! I ask the woman on the phone if she had ever dealt with a combat vet that was not in his right mind! I was not going anywhere near him when he was in one his rages. I made phone call after phone call begging people to tell me how to get help for him. Tell me, why can't a mother get help for her child when they won't do it themselves?!!! I did finally got a wonderful Iraq Vet to help me. We had to trick my son; sad but true. Thank you Michael at the Charlotte Veteran Center for helping me. God Bless!REPORT COMMENTS

this is a brilliant method of overcoming the stigma of seeking help, while guaranteeing that suffering vets get the help they need. Do it now!REPORT COMMENTS

Military families continue to fight various wars even when the fighting has stopped for our vets. We relive them every day and we are left picking up the broken pieces. Soldiers put their lives on the line for you every day. It is time to give back and give them the support they and their families need.REPORT COMMENTS

Thank you for caring. I was in the military and when I was in...it was considered a taboo to receive counseling. Counseling should not be considered a mark against you. There are times that people need help and may not have the coping mechanisms in place to help when tragedy's occur. Our military personnel are serving our country and they deserve the best to help them deal w/ problems and what they experience during wartime military service. God Bless All Who Are Serving!REPORT COMMENTS

As a OIF veteren and combat medic I have seen and deal with PTSD on a daily basis. Trying to return to civilian life without proper training is a joke. The DOD spent how long to train us how to be military? How can they just dump us back into civilian life without training and preparing us for that life? I've been home almost a year now and still can't deal with storm sirens or crowds of people. You are trained and put into a certain mindset for war. That same mindset is destructive in civilian life and needs to be untaught.REPORT COMMENTS
