Suspending someone's liscense and preventing them to get to and from a job is counter-productive and backwards thinking. A drivers liscense and child support have nothing to do with one another, the next step after suspending a liscense would be to not allow you to play sports

It is absolutely senseless to suspend a person license when a valid drivers license plays such an important part in one's ability to seek a job and transport to and from a Job in order to have money to pay child support and other bills.

This is the the most ridiculous act of collecting at debit have ever seen. Fall behind on payments and your license gets suspended??? Ok, so now we cant get back and forth to work how does CSE think we are supposed to pay something with no income? find work elsewhere? most of people in America live in rural areas without public transportation and requires at least a 15 minute drive to work. Also it makes no sense that a person caught DUI with the possibility of killing someone can be granted a restricted license to get back and forth to work, but because we owe we cant work? If the CSE and any other government agency were really concerned about the unemployment rate they would see that this is a bad decision that only adds to more financial aid recipients... Best believe if this happens to me, I will be right on social services doorstep applying for aid so I can take care of my child that does live with me also.

This law ruins every person who is involved with the support order. Driving home from work, where I am on a commission only job, my car was flagged by the police scanner, then impounded and personally humiliated the officer told me to walk home. After borrowing money to get my car back from the repo man who had the title flipped into his name and kept all of my articles in the car, I could not afford to do anything. My industry, the auto industry requires a valid liscence to be employable. I just spent three hours on the phone trying to tell the director of collections that I can't be employed without a valid liscence. He told me to get a letter stating that I would be hired and then the child support would lift the suspension.. It is a catch 22 that no NCP should be in....How ridiculous this law is.. I am willing to bet the courts and political power revenues have increased greatly. Some needs to change immediately!

In 2001, my back child support was under $5,000.00. Now it is over $13,000.00. I have always paid my back child support when working, comes right out of my check. I do not have a problem paying. They said my name came up in the system and I have to pay 20 percent of what I owe which would have been $2,000.00. I could not come up with that much money. They suspended my license. Currently paying almost $100.00 every two weeks for back support but still have to take the bus to work every day. Of that $13,000.00, over $9,000.00 of it is interest. How am I ever supposed to get it paid. And how is it fair that at 45 I have to walk in the snow to the bus stop and struggle to get to work every day because they suspended my license but yet I am working and paying my back support. :( grrrrrrrr ! Very frustrating!!!!

It Is one of the many abusive, insulting ideas in the law making. They DO NOT help the parent not the child that ultimately needs the support. The scaring they do to people and the so need it self esteem they need specially in hard times is shutter and honestly with out NOT KNOWLEDGE of psichology Judges and the Justice system has TOO MUCH power and eventually needs to be responsible for what they do to people. NO PEOPLE DO NOT BRIG******to them selves you do not have the qualification NEED for the nature of most of the cases you handle nor you have the means to implement a system the is healing and honor human beings.

Having paid my child support directly to my spouse for years. I ran into the issue of the Department of family and child services suspending my License. Until back child support has been paid. After my spouse sent them a letter claiming that she had received payment. They refused to reinstate my license until all payments "owed" wen't through their office. I lost my position within my company due to the License issue. I was a Mobile Repair Technician and I was no longer able to Use A Company vehicle and now have been out of work for over a year. Explain to me how someone who has been paying child support for years has to now pay double the amount that has been paid, and no longer able to be employable in the career that I have been trained and skilled in. Not only has to led to my own personal financial downfall but that of my spouse who is no longer able to receive my child support payments. Please stop removing the tools we as parents need in order to provide for our children.

Ohh I can add to this one! I'm a professional IT guy in Washington that's had to survive through all of the ups and downs of the tech economy. I'm married to my highschool sweetheart after being separated for over a decade and have become a father to her 5 amazing daughters.....The down side is I can NEVER make enough money to make ends meet with this size family and I've been unemployed several times over the last few years......I made a mistake when I was a teenager that haunts me to this day and ended up fathering a child I have never known who is now an adult for several years now. an arrangement had been made through support enforcement when I was making good money but when I was out of work it turned into "Pay us or else!" They arbitrarily come up with different amounts whenever they want to and tell me it's because I broke my agreement and they have the legal right....I told the woman very bluntly that I have a wife and 5 daughters to take care of first and foremost before they would see a dime so they suspended my license. I got denied multiple jobs that required a license and can't afford the reinstatement fees so now I'm driving Illegally and working under the table.....Why should I have to act and feel like a criminal??? If I get pulled over my life will be over as I know it and I will actually become a criminal by default just because of this ridiculous law! This needs to change NOW!

This is the most ridiculous law I've ever heard made to generate money for the state based in dividing families and causing unnecessary hardship on the payee. My son is 14 and I've paid four literally 14 years but if I was injured or disabled on the job suspension of my professional licenses would be detrimental not only to myself but also too my son. . . Time to reevaluate this whole family court system it's broken.

Who comes up with these rules. How is anyone suppose to pay child support if their license has been suspended and they can no longer get to work? Think Senators who are you really punishing?
