While visiting with some friends today, my son was asked to choke one of them. My son refused and told the kid it's a dangerous game. Both of his friends admitted to having done it before. I'm very concerned for these kids and will contact their parents.Apr 18th, 2014Someone from Manchester, CT signed.

I was introduced to this when I was about 11 yrs old visiting a relative...we would have another person place the balls of their hands over both your arteries on your neck up against a wall...when u went out they would lay u on the floor and laugh about what u did til u came out of it...then tell u what u did...and it was the good kids high...when I got home I never thought about doing it again...apparently it has become deadly and I had no idea it was still being done...especially to yourself,,,and im 58 yrs nowREPORT COMMENTS

This has been around a lot longer than some parents realize, but yet, it still is not something that parents should be told about and schools should be briefing their students on so this STOPs! I am 62 and this was popular when I was in grade school and when I was 16, my 13 year old niece took her life playing this game. Her father found her in their basement a few minutes too late. This is so sad. If we would bring this out in the open and infirm our young children with the statistics, this might stop or at least...lower in numbers. Such senseless deaths for a momentary high that has the potential of ending tragically.REPORT COMMENTS

My step-son passed away the day after Christmas 2013 as a result of the "choking game". His death was ruled a suicide. He was 12 years old, he died one month before his 13th birthday. He too, like many of the victims of this deadly game was a student athlete with outstanding grades. He showed no signs of depression and was raised in a happy and stable family. We were sad that his death was ruled as a suicide. We live in Santa Fe New Mexico. Please consider the "choking game" as a manner of death to be an option on the death certificates.
