As a laborer I must drug test to get a job and I'm required to take random tests to keep my job. If its good enough for me, a hard working provider, then its good enough for the recipients that benefit from my labor as well.

This is a great idea. Very common sense but not for our ass-backwards government!!!

Why should we give these people food stamps and assistance when their own money goes to dope? I work too hard to support the dopers!

I do believe people getting welfare should be required to take a drug test. People ask, who should pay for it? The taxpayers already pay for welfare. If they didn't pass the test than which would be cheaper? Paying for the one time test or paying out welfare for someone who is using drugs day after day? And if there are two adults in the family receiving welfare, than they BOTH be tested.

I am very appalled that drug users are getting a free ride in life when I and many others work hard on a daily basis to survive and insure a secure future for ourselves and/or our children. The fact that drug tests are not mandatory for those receiving assistance infuriates me. As for those saying that they cant get a job, IM CALLING BULL on that. I know that if I were out of a job I could get one quickly. I may not make the best money or have the best job but I gaurantee I would get one. McDonalds, Sonic, Burger King and many others are hiring all the time. So I have no sympathy for those that say "I cant find a job"!!!! So all I have left to say is get off the drugs and/or get a job!!!!

People that are using MY money, need to pass a drug test, its that simple. IF they take their own money and use drugs, its their stupid choice, and they hopefully get caught.

Everyone is saying... What about their children?? First of all, why would they even care about their children if they are spending their money on drugs? Second.. why are the children living with drug addicted parents? I have had someone approach me in the market, asking me to use their CARD to pay for my groceries. Then they want me to give them cash at half the price. So the card thing isn't working. Just because I said no, doen't mean that someone eles won't say yes. We are all having a hard time right now and this scam could benifit others that have no morals!

Something really needs to be done. I am a single mom and I have no money left over after bills. My bills are regular bills. Nothing like cable, car loan, insurance, or credit cards. They are the basic living bills. I applied for assistance for myself and my daughter after her father left and all I can get is $16 in food stamps and medical assistance but I will have to pay a premium. I am happy that I will get something, but why do people that have awesome cars and really nice stuff get more help than I do? I work with a few of them. They always brag about their new "toys" and they are on drugs. It isn't right at all.

I work for the Air Force as a civilian. If I have to take a drug test for my job to receive money from the government the so should people on welfare. A lot of people on welfare abuse the system anyway and are too lazy to get a job.

It's time we start fixing this and all problems, including the healthcare issue. The people are FED up with all of you in office. The biggest decievers out there are the politicians. You are not my dictator. You are SUPPOSED to be my voice. I, as well as many don't feel we have a voice any longer. Democrats and Republicans alike will not swallow your pride and do the right thing for the American people. Earmarks should never even be an issue. What on earth does a rain forest in Idaho have to do with anything pertaining to the common good of our country? It is just one more thing to line the pockets of the poilticians. That is the perception all of you in Washington have given US the people of this great country. My question is are you (whom ever receives this) going to do the right thing and make changes that will TRULY benefit the people you represent? Things like this bill are truly needed, yet they are just passed by.

At my job random drug screens are performed. A positive result leads you to termination. Same should be for welfare...after all we the workers face termination and welfare people arent in the position to say no to the screening! If the Government doesnt screen we shouldnt pay the taxes to support them
