As a healthcare professional, I wasn't aware maternal death wasn't being reported. I feel ashamed. A woman's health is very important. A mother's death affects the whole family, specially her children. It is traumatic. America Wake Up! -

I pray that we get a woman president in the White House because we need a woman who will provide the health coverage women so sorely need and the attention to their health after labor and very importantly, in the work place!REPORT COMMENTS

Why do woman always need to fight in a place that seems to be a mans world! Men should not be in Obstetrics and gynecology! I am not surprised. Most of the politicians are crooks they say something and do something. Women fight with each other instead of helping each other. My woman boss was very rude to women especially when they were sick. Some doctors or hospitals should be fined heavily for not taking care of a minority pregnant woman. Mother Teresa was the best. Either be a good nurse or dr. Otherwise leave the profession. Remember God is watching all.REPORT COMMENTS

When a mother dies, a whole family loses its way, and society suffers the consequences. Our maternal mortality rate is shameful; time to change.REPORT COMMENTS

It's unbelievable that the most industrialized country has the worst health system to care for the mother and newborn. Pregnant women have no labor rights that protect them. They have no paid maternity leave and half hours regime during breast feeding, among others. Even many developing countries have this care system as a priority.REPORT COMMENTS

let this country stop being the most technologically advanced in medicine but one of the worst in preventative medicine. As well as the one denying easy access to quality health care to minorities, including women.REPORT COMMENTS

I have two daughters & two granddaughters, want to keep them and all women who choose to have children safe. It should be mandatory for all hospitals to have childbirth emergency protocol set in place before they can even open up a maternity department. America come on!REPORT COMMENTS
