We deserve safe foods. Our horses, domestic and wild, are being sent to slaughter which is a horrendous way to die and their meat is entering the human food pipeline with all the various toxins that contribute to cancer...even in the U.S.. Stop this practice and end this abuse of our public health and subsidies to the 1% who make their money at the cost to the public and the lives of our horses.Jul 10th, 2016Someone from Austin, TX signed.

I have asked over and over for you to act and pass the SAFE ACT 1942. I do NOT want American horses, domestic or wild sent into the food chain. They are unsafe to eat. My voice, the voice of all Americans, should mean more to Congress than the voices of welfare ranchers who get to come before you and speak while we must stay out. Unfair!REPORT COMMENTS

The SAFE ACT is the only way to stop shipping horse meat back into America, where they slaughter our horses and sell it back to us in chopped meat.... Even if you don't care about our beloved horses, think about the toxins in horses!! They're given high doses of medications and topicals that are clearly labeled NOT TO BE USED ON ANIMALS FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Eating it can also cause birth defects and even death in unborn babies. The horrible part is the fact the mother doesn't know she's earing it.REPORT COMMENTS

this is known through out the government and no law has been put in place to shut the borders down. we don't need more american horses slaughtered ! we need to stop the impractical breeding of horses by these associations for fees that make no sense . too many horses are dumped each year or this practice to keep happening . from nurse mares to blood horses . just too many. then you have the wild horses that bureau of land management has continued to throw into the same pipeline , which is so unamerican . these horses should by all rights should be protected animals on their own land. free from humans bothering them . but that is not how it is . sally jewel has put wild horses at risk . rounding up so many that the taxpayers are stuck paying for in pens . at risk because they no shelter from the weather in all of the facility , not enough water for all. and are too easily sold in groups to who will commit fraud and sell them into the pipeline of death. this is so wrong of all of our elected officials that should be protecting all of these animals. i think all of you have slacked on your jobs and that is a shame because we believed in you. to protect them.REPORT COMMENTS

The export of horses to any slaughter houses should be prohibited in the United States of America. Our country should not condone such an unsanitary inhumane practice. As a horse owner I myself know what these horses are treated with. It's vile to think anyone would be exporting a horse for anyone or any things consumption and should absolutely be banned. These are emotional intelligent animals and are not livestock for meat trade. The U.S. should not be a contributing factor in the decline of health, & increase in cancers caused be eating unsafe unregulated horse meat. It is appalling. I think any of our representatives who disagree should take a trip to a kill pen or slaughterhouse to see what it's really like. Maybe minds will be changed forever.REPORT COMMENTS
