"Alice Cogswell, Anne Sullivan Macy and Helen Keller were three students whose disabilities limited their access to information, communication and participation in the world around them. Alice was Deaf; Annie was visually impaired, and Helen was deafblind. As young girls with special needs, not everyone thought that they could learn or achieve much in life. With appropriate instruction, access to communication, and knowledgeable teachers they were able to thrive and went on to become leaders and examples of what good investment in education can do. " As much my story as theirs.Aug 15th, 2016Someone from Waynesville, MO signed.

To not pass this Alice Cogswell-Macy Act would have detrimental damages to the growth of our young Deaf, Deaf Blind, and Blind people! I know so because I have been an educator of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and have done volunteer work with the Deaf Blind! I am a Deaf mother of two sons who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing who have succeeded academically with an ASL(American Sign Language)background. Please give this Act your serious consideration!REPORT COMMENTS

All school systems, public and private, need highly qualified teachers for the Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Deaf, Blind, and Deafblind. The teachers need support from their administration and access to experts in the respective fields listed above. I have a 22 year old son with CHARGE Syndrome. Please pass the Cogswell-Macy Act!REPORT COMMENTS
