this should have been done a loooong time ago. most cities make you pay tax and license your dog why not make it where you have to spay/neuter as well.Apr 11th, 2012Someone from East Moline, IL writes:

Animals deserve better than to be murdered due to human ignorance. Having a pet is a privilege and pets deserve basic care to make their lives comfortable and pet owners should be responsible for taking care of these needs. This includes spaying/neutering to prevent unwanted litters. If people cannot afford these basic necessities then they do not deserve to be pet owners.REPORT COMMENTS

I work hard to try and help save animals lives EVERYDAY!! If it was a law that you HAD to have your pet spayed or neutered(unless its a show animal) I would not have to work so very hard. I can not tell you how many lives could be saved and how many would NOT die!! PLEASE PLEASE PASS THIS IN TO LAW!!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

It's hard to imagine this inhumane treatment of a dear animal that didn't have any choice. Please understand this is so others can learn responsability.REPORT COMMENTS

This is such and important issue. I know in my town most people are at poverty level, but yet continue to want pets. They cannot afford for this service. I think it is a shame. Keep the boy's and girls segregated if that is the only way you have to keep unwanted animals. They euthenize every Tuesday here, it breaks my heart.REPORT COMMENTS

I see animals killed every month at the local shelter I volunteer at. It is officially kitten season and many more cats will be killed because of it. It is time to end this. If animals were spayed/neutered then we would never have kitten season and less animals would be senselessly killed.REPORT COMMENTS

There are millions of animals euthanized every year. The concept of spay and neuter should be a common sense approach to at least minimizing this horrific occurrence. It is the fault of humans, yet the animals suffer!! This needs to be mandatory!REPORT COMMENTS

that means those that want to breed, have to be licensed (for a fee) and regulated so we know there are no more puppy mills and dogs are healthy.REPORT COMMENTS

there are too many unwanted pets ending up on the streets, or at the shelters and pounds, or even worse. the cruelty that some pet owners inflict on their pets once they've decided to get rid of them disgusts me. we need to get a control on pet overpopulation. until all of the strays have a home, the shelter dogs are adopted, and no one is abusing or neglecting their unwanted pet anymore.REPORT COMMENTS

I don't know if having a breeders license will help stop the overabundance of animals in the US. There are too many kennels the are USDA approved that a nothing less than puppy mills. There are no easy answers to the problem of mass euthanasia of animals.REPORT COMMENTS
