Please pass this bill. The reason I would like this passed is this. I committed an offense in the military. The offense was so minor that one would laugh at it if you read what happened but I can tell you from experience it is no laughing matter. I served my time for the crime I did, got out went to college and graduated. And now thirty years after this crime that I supposedly did my time for has again re-surfaced. I have more than finished my time and I think that it is a bunch of bull that I have to constantly battle that fact that I took some champagne and liquor from a club. I did not even get a chance to consume it but boy did I get burned so many years ago. I even co-operated with authorites to help them burn me down the road. How screwed up is this. The crime is non-violent and I want a second chance in life. This happened when I was 25. I am now 55 and willing to start a new career so that at least I can have something to retire with. However since I have already resigned myself to the fact that I am going to have to work until I am laying in my grave the least that could happen is that I could get a second chance. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO PASS THIS LEGISLATION !!!! Thank you.Jul 27th, 2011Someone from Pearl, MS signed.

I am a non violent offender who made a terrible mistake four years ago. I did my time in prison, I paid all my debts and have committed myself to a good, clean life. I have an associate's degree and am intelligent. I deserve a second chance. It is an almost impossible task to find a job these days due to the ease of obtaining a background check. And all employers automatically reject those with felons, regardless of the circumstances, for insurance purposes. Please, PLEASE pass this act into law. I've paid my debt to society and would like to be able to contribute to society like everyone else. Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a divorced mother of two children, and my ex husband has been out of prision for since 2011. Because of his past infractions with the law, he cannot get a job, therefore he cannot pay his child support. In turn, there are more legal issues rising on the horizion for our family, as more jail time doesn't support my children. This is an unfair "catch 22". This bill could easily relieve this stress for both our family, and many others. Please consider the lives affected here, not just the felon's, but those that depend on them.REPORT COMMENTS

This sounds like a great bill. Some people are forced/extorted into confessing for a crime they didn't commit (for a lighter sentence) out of fear of our legal system.REPORT COMMENTS
