I am not convinced we, the next generation of industry leaders, are taken seriously or respected by our government and current leaders. Denying us the National Mall so far along in the competition confirms this. We have done our due diligence, the question is, has our government?Jan 18th, 2011Someone from New York, NY signed.

As a nation that is socially and technologically advanced, it is our duty to set an example. How can that happen when one of the most important student based competitions that is recognized in the world and accepted as a step forward towards a most sustainable and energy efficient future being moved form the front steps of our nation to the vary back of the back yard. This we should be ashamed of and this should not be allowed, it is our responsibility.REPORT COMMENTS

Without the National Mall location there will be a serious impact on reach of the solar decathlon message. Solar energy and efficiency can be done now!REPORT COMMENTS

Please place the competition back in the Nation's Front Yard, a site of cultural and historic importance-- a site which promotes sustainability for a competition which will also follow the same ideals!REPORT COMMENTS

This event is one of the premier showcases of solar technologies and innovation in sustainable living; moving it would be very detrimental in developing, promoting and showcasing public and private initiatives regarding sustainable building technologies. This seems like another example of government hypocrisy, with officials calling to increase energy efficiency and greater deployment of renewable energy technologies, but then pushing well established events like the Solar Decathlon away from where it has been since 2001. And they allowed teams to develop their projects for well over a year without saying a word about this.REPORT COMMENTS

The Solar Decathlon is the reason I am in the solar industry 4 years after graduating. There is no better place to channel the creative energies of so many amazing students, designers, engineers, marketers, and faculty than on the mall proper. I personally think that you kill the decathlon if you remove it from the mall. For an administration that heralds itself as a friend of green tech, I think this is an obvious choice.REPORT COMMENTS

The National Mall is one the best places to exhibit our country's effort at advancing sustainable energy and design. I think we must continue with the original plan of hosting the Solar Decathlon at Washington D.C.'s National Mall! Please consider the input of the next generation!REPORT COMMENTS

As a previous student involved in the Solar Decathlon, I find it unnerving that such a drastic change would be allowed at this stage. Location is paramount in many of the designs, particularly for providing the energy needed to power these amazing structures. Moving the competition would be detrimental to the success of these endeavors. I implore you to allow this Solar Decathlon competition to proceed on the National Mall as planned, with discussion afterward about another venue for the next competition.REPORT COMMENTS
