It is times like these, times when we have been stripped of our hopes, denied the promises once given to us all that we stand united. A unity that runs deep across 5 countries for a common cause, a cause that will change lives and provide the world with affordable solutions for a more secure energy future. The National Mall is a platform for this future and this competition, allowing students to reach the multitudes, passing down their education with a greater purpose. A fire was fueled in us all upon hearing news of the relocation of the U.S Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011. We will stand for what we have so diligently worked for. It is our TIME TO SHINE. -

I strongly support reinstating the National Mall as the location for the Solar Decathelon 2011. A relocation of the competition, which is in the last stages of preparation, is grossly unjust to all of the teams and will impact their budgets, shipping plans, and financial backers. The National Mall is a prestigious showcase for the competition as well as an incentive for teams to gain support. A change of this magnitude should have been made before the current competition began, or applicable to the next competition. A reinstatement of venue is the only just decision.REPORT COMMENTS

Is this the message our revered government should be sending? That a cutting-edge, inspirational, aspirational, entrepreneurial, practical, real-world demonstration and showcase of sustainable design and energy efficient technologies are valued less than green grass? It seems to me that our nation's "front-lawn", green grass or not, is not just the most appropriate place, but the only place, this event should be held.REPORT COMMENTS

I was a member of Santa Clara University's 3rd place winning team in the 2007 Solar Decathlon competition. This competition introduces the general public to sustainable building practices, solar-powered home design and basic habits of environmentally-mindful living. The importance of the Solar Decathlon cannot be underestimated, especially at such a critical juncture in global climate change. Show your support for student innovation and environmental action by reinstating the Solar Decathlon on the National Mall. Empower the American public - our citizens have the right to access and learn from student innovation on our nation's public commons. Please do not reduce the impact of a year and half of technological advancements produced by some of our nation's brightest students. Please reconsider this choice. This contest is precisely what our country needs to begin to transform our energy crisis. The National Mall gives the contest the exposure it need to advance the national agenda around energy. PLEASE reconsider. Thank youREPORT COMMENTS
