Let's see, my brother in law pays $100 a month for wireless in Iraq while putting his life on the line, while I pay $30 a month while sitting comfortably at home. NOT RIGHT!!! This should be a free service to connect with home!REPORT COMMENTS

My husband is currently deployed to Iraq (on his 3rd tour of duty there). Him and his soldiers have to pay over $100 per month for Internet....each!!! I hope Congress can get that changed and show the soldiers appreciation for all that they do for our country.REPORT COMMENTS

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. My soldiers have to pay for internet - there are 3 levels of monthly service, but in order to have a halfway decent connection (one that you can skype on) you have to pay at least $70 per month. Even then, the connection is about the equivalent of a dial-up connection. That is a substantial amount of money for soldiers to spend for a service that is maybe worth $10 a month back in the states. But since that is the only option we have, we are stuck. I hope Congress can get this changed for the future soldiers that are deployed here.REPORT COMMENTS

In my opinion internet access as well as long distance phone calls to home should be free if you are deployed. If the government can buy those $200 toilet seats you hear about surely they can buy internet access.REPORT COMMENTS

My son Terrence has been deployed to Afghanistan and has not been able to contact us via internet. He let us know that is cost 100 dollars a month to have internet. The phone call was cut off because of a bad connection. We have no idea when we will speak to him again. He had "the most important job in the army" He is making sure are soldiers make it home with respect and dignity. This is a tough job in mortuary affairs. No one knows the stress this puts on these young men, except their mom's. I would expect the minimum support, at least giving our soldiers the ability to speak with parents and family and get the loving words the deserve.REPORT COMMENTS

men and women fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about how they'll find money to pay for internet connection. Not only is the internet costly but the connection isn't that reliable either. Contacting loved ones for soldiers should be free. Especially because it gives them strength, hope, love, and faith.REPORT COMMENTS
