I think the least we could do is provide these men and women with a link to their home, to their sanity. All too often they miss important birthdays, births, anniversaries, and deaths. Allowing them to see their loved ones and be rest assured that all is well on the home front is almost a requirement for them to maintain their sanity. Is this REALLY asking too much from congress? Can we wipe congress out and start over? Because I am understanding that congress needs to be reminded WHY they sit in those comfy chairs and live the life they do. I thought this country was supposed to be run FOR the people BY the people.REPORT COMMENTS

We spend so much money in attempts to increase the quality of life for the locals in the places we deploy. I think the government can pony up a little cash to ensure the soldiers have some good quality of life while away from family. In the end it is not just the soldier that suffers. My boyfriend is deployed to Kuwait, and although they do have free internet access the quality is terrible. We hardly are ever able to talk. The internet that is being provided is inadequate, too many soldiers trying to use it. Makes it very difficult to stay positive during this year apart.REPORT COMMENTS
