I have been in pain for twenty years. It has worstened as my health and diagnoses have changed. I originally injured my back on a call as a paramedic. I had spent yrs dealing with the very people that the DEA think that they are stopping, but all that they have and will be doing is hurting those who actually have had their quality of life taken away already. Just as those who choose to use guns illegally, be it as part of a gang or whatever the reason, they will find a gun, and just like up until now, they not once stopped by the police department to say 'just wanna make sure I have all my paperwork on this before I use it', they will never do it the legal way. Thise who abuse drugs will always do it the illegal way. You will still have people breaking into.others homes, going from ER to ER, Dr.to Dr, making it themselves, or buying off the streets. All that you have done is make sure that those who ACTUALLY are suffering from pain and debillitating conditions are made to suffer even more. They are forced to watch from a distance as their children grow.up thinking that they are not important because mom or dad could never lea e the bed or chair to come watch them play football or be in the school play. They also missed graduation, and all the time feeling like a failure for not being there, but what to do? It's not like you ever get any support from these so called Dr's, they never once have said "living with pain is a true and legitimate condition and famies need to support you, and society needs to support you, instead of being conditioned to look at and treat you as a druggy. The DEA has also made it easier for some offices to do like my office, who nust had the owning physician retire, so the other Drs decided to change the way things were done. We were informed that if you have no operable spinal condition, you will no longer receive meds. That was explained to me as if you cannot for some reason receive continued treatments other and in addition to meds, you are out. Broken down they admitted it means you must make money for them to keep you. You must be able.to have regular epidurals, etc that can be claimed in addition on insurance and if you need to talk more than 15 appointment, you must pay for.2, etc. Since I have severe fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, herpatic neuropathy, scoliosis, spondiolysys and a number of other chronic pain conditions, I was told I had to repeat my mri and if there was nothing operable, meaning injections, I would have to come off all meds and no longer be seen. They already know I can't, because as a type 1 unstable diabetic the injections could kill me. I have a heart,/ lung problem that affects O2Sats too. Because I am in such a high level of pain, test proved that the meds did not effect my O2Sats(tthe first thing they wanted to blame, so the first tbey ruled.out) but if im taken off meds after so long tbey can kill me, and there is nothing to stop them. I suppose that shouldnt suprise us since theevelMay 31st, 2016Someone from East Aurora, NY signed.

Is it the patient abusing the medication, or the doctors prescribing it? Is it the Pharmaceutical companies or the pharmacies causing problems and deaths, overdoses and illicit use of pain medications? No, a huge giant NO!!! It's the stigma of people that have no clue what it's like to have large bolts in their backs, or have had their leg cut in two so you could get a knee installed , like you would at the auto shop. As a person who has suffered all of this and many more, I can attest to the DEA using us, chronic pain sufferers, as success stories for a bar chart reduction, hiding their failure to stop the illicit drug trades and cause us people who simply want and need to use these medications to live more normal, productive daily lives. Ignorance is prevailing here ! I have had my medications reduced by 65%in the last 1.5 years to appease or try to appease these idiots making laws they have no clue of, causing harm to the general public , causing grief to those who don't need anymore than they already have that's casing all of these problems . Being lowered so far below the need to be correctly dosed to function has cost me 5 jobs in less than 2 years due to the inability to function due to severe pain that was controlled but no longer is. I worked 5 years one job prior , now once lowered I have moved 4 times. I'm on welfare, have no medical benefits, am near bankruptcy, all due to the DEA! I wish pain on no one . Ever. But I would like the people making these rules to live in my shoes , what's left of them, for a week. I also ask they go after the drug kings and borders so people don't have a choice to buy illicit drugs. Because what you law makers are doing to us is far sick than a doctor trying to do his job with a patient who needs him! Leave us alone! PleaseREPORT COMMENTS

Since when did those words " First do no harm" take on a different meaning? I have fibro, PSTD, degenerate discs lower back, anxiety, depression just to name a few of my diseases. Want to spend a week in my shoes? With no medication? No, I don't think so. Why are you making us suffer? Since when Des the CDC ( who deal with diseases such as measles) take it upon themselves to just one day say "let's just stop giving out pain medication "? Yes, there are a lot of overdose in children doing hardcore drugs, not little old ladies and men who are crippled in pain! Please straighten this out, soon before you have a bunch of overdoses from the ones that need it the most!REPORT COMMENTS

Both the DEA and the CDC need to fight drug addiction and not chronic pain!!! There is a huge difference between drug addicts with major psychological problems and the physical dependence that accompanies long term opioid use due to pain. There are no other alternatives that work at this time. When there are we will all celebrate. Until then - confine your battles to those who abuse drugs without medical indications. People have a right to some kind of quality of life!REPORT COMMENTS

The DEA needs to back off and let the Pain Management Doctors treat their Chronic Pain patients as they deem medically necessary. Leave these legitimate Care Providers alone, and go after the actual drug dealers you allow in the country to run a muck each and every day.REPORT COMMENTS

I sure would like to know what a person is supposed to do when all the doctors turn you down because they don't want to take you on as a new patient? My boyfriend is a chronic pain patient, he was dumped by his doctor two years ago and still has not been able to find a doctor because they all keep turning him down and don't want to take him on as a new patient. So he has been suffering in horrible pain for the past two years now. Whatever happened to the days when you went to see a doctor you got to be seen by a doctor? Now they just pick and choose and if your a chronic pain patient they want nothing to do with you because were all a bunch of drug addicts seeking pills and Dr. shopping according to them. This is total ********! Nobody should have to suffer in pain like this if you need to be seen by a doctor you should be able to be treated by a doctor no matter what your medical condition is. The CDC, FDA , and all the pen pushers needs to take their guidelines and shove them up their ass. I would love to see them suffer a day in pain without any pain meds. There are more alcohol related deaths a year then there are opiate overdoses but I don't see them doing anything about that, all they want to do is go after the pain patients. I could keep going on and on but I don't have time.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a Chronic pain Sufferer who has to jump through hoops just to get any pain meds. My urine had been clean in a drug screen and you would think that's a good thing showing your not out doing all kinds of drugs but then they think your selling it! You gotta be kidding me! If you have MRI's., xrays, and have procedures done for an obvious reason, then obviously you shouldn't be automatically judged and called a drug addict or seller. What happened to our freedom? We can put whatever we want to in OUR own bodies. Stop this unneeded suffering.REPORT COMMENTS

You are clearly targeting the wrong group of people.Wake up! There will be more deaths when chronic pain patients are forced to get relief outside of doctor's offices instead of receiving it from a reliable source. I'm near the end of my own rope.I have had brain surgery twice in my life and have recurring head pain from it. The only medicine to date that has helped me have a better quality of life are opiates. I do not abuse them, I don't get high from them either. It helps by relieving 70% of my pain so I can enjoy a better day. When that is taken away from me I am done.I will have no choice but something illegal or something more drastic: suicide. You are the ones responsible. My family will know that it was because I was denied the care I needed that did me in.I won't be alone, others will do the same. It's like science fiction, the government has found a way to rid themselves of 100 million citizens that can't produce because of pain. The sad part is that we do function when we are allowed access to these drugs. It's not addiction, which is a disease,it's called pain management. I'm talking to a wall.REPORT COMMENTS
