My husband pays out so much in child support, that he can't even help with the children he lives with! It's unfortunate because I can't afford to give them the extras, like amusement parks, big birthday parties, movies, vacations, or even new school clothes! Meanwhile, my husband's ex drives a new truck, lives on section 8, collects food stamps, and doesn't WORK!!! This is LUDICROUS, to say the very least! HELP!!!!!

As a divorced parent I have been abused by the family court system and my ex-wife for the past 12 years. They have driven me to bankruptcy, threatened me with incarceration and effectively destroyed my relations with both my beautiful daughters. Tomorrow I return to court to see a judge based on a willfulness finding by a magistrate. My required support is $2400 per month. In the past 12 months I have paid $42,000 in support payments. The magistrate recommended a $10,000 purge to erase the finding. I can afford to bring $5000 and face the prospect of jail. How can this be allowed?? Over the past decade I have paid $500,000 towards support, maintenance, education, healthcare ostensibly for the children. Through all of this I earned a living middle-class while my ex earns 5 times more than I do. I have petitioned the courts to consider our income disparity with no relief. It's beyond incredible that our legal system is utterly blind and I might find myself in jail tomorrow. Please don't give up the fight to reform.

Family law needs to change... If the parent/Father is willing and more than capable of taking care of their child, shared custody(50/50) should be a given... Ignoring or limiting the innocent love a child has for their parent, for no reason other than to be vengeful, should be a crime. It's neglectful, confusing and no different than abuse. The current traditional laws/standards need to be addressed immediately. It is turning loving, caring Father's, into deadbeats and fueling/assisting spiteful Mothers. Family is supposed to make judgment in the child's best interest.... This method is anything but that...

If a Father/Parent is willing and more than able to take on responsibility of 50/50 custody, it should be a given. Not determined by the opinion of a vengeful ex.

We are currently going through false allegations made by mother who has somehow convinced the daughter and dcfs we've done these bad things. They've never spoke with us, never did the investigation because if they did they'd see its the mother who is doing the harassment and abuse. They've just found us guilty without doing their part as they should be. It's ruined our lives and has jeopardized our careers. It's not right. They've broken our Constitutional rights and we are already guilty proving to be innocent. It needs to change.

The allowance of hearsay in the family law courts as fact is a travesty; and coupled with the fact that a parent accuser cannot be cross-examined on the stand. it allows for parents who may not be perfect, as few are, to stand to lose the ones they love, because of what may have started as a marital squabble, or a family feud. The same constitutional rights should be afforded to our citizens, in a family court of law, as in a criminal court of law. We do not want to go back to Salem.

This reform calls for equality and if we truly stand for equality, then this needs to happen. Otherwise you are lying about your belief in equality.

I have a stepson that by all moral, ethical, and Godly rights is MY baby boy. I have raised him since he was two. He calls me mommy and he calls his biological birther by her first name or just what's her name. She has physically mentally sexually and emotional ally abused him since the age of 4. He is 11 now and has had no contact except in passing when visiting his maternal grandmother. She does not acknowledge him even on holidays or birthdays. He has not been in her life for 4 years, yet Every time we have gone to court or police or child advocate or child protective services they do nothing. If bioparent says she wants visitation they give it and she disappears. We take her back with proof of abuse they still give her visitation. My son refuses to see her as he is terrified of her. But grandma tries to force it and also manipulates his mind. We will continue to try which aggravates the judges and Lawyers but we will not stop trying to protect him. The past 4 years have been quiet but if we were to try to prove abandonment I'm sure the judge wouldn't look I to it or even care. If she shows up it obviously means she cares ...right ? No she just wants some form of control just in case in the future she needs it. She is also a drug addict and been arrested 3 times just this year. No one seems to care about the children. They only care about not terminating rights or looking bad on the bench. My son's life depends on getting away from that family and no one takes the time to researcg. We need change. Someone needs to listen to the children too as well as the everyday caretakers and fathers.

My daughter is not allowed to visit bc her mother won't let her. And, the courts have agreed with her bc she is mom. And, mom's automatically know everything.

If the discrimination were reversed (women were automatically assumed to be less than acceptable parents and only guaranteed every other weekend with their children), this practice would have already been addressed and equal time (50/50 physical and legal custody) would be the starting point for all custody negotiations. Male guilt over generations of irresponsible men abandoning their fatherhood rights and responsibilities MUST NO LONGER be the basis to deny engaged fathers equal time with their children. If you want to keep screwing men over by making them continue to pay child support despite having equal custody, that's fine, we'll fight that unconstitutional practice later. For now, just focus on giving each parent getting equal legal access to equal time with the children.
