I had to go to the nurse for my enzymes in kindergarten. In elementary school and middle school, my dr wrote a note that they were 'dietary supplements' and I was able to carry them and take them myself. By high school, the rules were more strict, so I carried them and took them myself, and we just didn't tell anyone. A CFer needs to be able to take these themselves. They will need to have them in their backpack at school anyway... what if they have an after school activity and eat a snack?? They will need enzymes.REPORT COMMENTS

My grandson is 2 and not in school yet. I hope this law passes so that when he enters school he can at least have his teacher give him his medicine so he doesn't miss part of his class and/or have to waste time going to the office.REPORT COMMENTS

My daughter also takes enzymes. She is 6 1/2 and can tell you *why* she has to take them, so she would be responsible enough to take them on her own.REPORT COMMENTS

As for myself I agree these children should be allowed to administer there own enzymes. I am a nurse at a local high school in the state where I live and also have a child with Cystic Fibrosis. Class time is important, but nutrition for kids with CF is as important, lunch times are short as it is and if most go to high schools the size of the one I work at (Approx. 2000-2400 students)lunch lines are long enough without having to walk to the front of a school to see a nurse. I hope this is passed for those who are of most important to us.REPORT COMMENTS

For me this is simple. The children need the enzymes. It is not harmful if accidently or intentionally ingested by people without cystic fybrosis. The current legislation should not apply. It is time to make the changes that will both serve the common interest of public school children safety and provide the support to those of members of our community, and thus our family, that our living with cystic fybrosis, and making the best choices they can to ensure their own health and safety.REPORT COMMENTS

I too have a duaghter with CF, she however is pancreatic sufficient but still has to to take medications with major meals due to digestive problem. Amazingly when she turned 1 year old she knew exactly which medicines to get and when to take them. These kids already have enough obsticles to deal with. Lets try to help ease the road that they are living on and pass this law. Thank You.REPORT COMMENTS
