I have family that are foster parents to two children they are wanting to adopt. One they have had since she was 10 months old and now she is 3 years old. The court system just keeps messing around and toying with their hearts. The biological parents are not fit to raise children. If in over 2 years they haven't gotten their life together what makes the court system think it's gonna change. These children have the best foster parents a child could ever have. It makes me sick to my stomach that they could lose her after this long because of the incompetent justice system. -

These poor children are dragged along for years. Do the right thing and allow them permanency as quickly as possible to minimize the trauma to these children. There are so many children aging out of foster care, and sadly I can't help but think that there was a time when many of them could have been adopted, but the state dragged it out, sent them back home only to remove them again and again, placing them in home after home until they've endured so much trauma that many of them act out - really to no fault of their own. After all that and all those years now the state wants them to be adopted. Many times at that point these children have attachment disorders, behavioral issues, etc , again to no fault of their own , that makes it harder for them to be placed permanently at this point. Children should only be in one foster home, the parents have plenty of time to prove themselves ( if they don't in 15 months, they're probably never going to), and if not they need to be adopted at that point. And frankly, if parents are no shows to visits,. Not following plan, not showing up prepared for visits ( diapers, etc) , then after 6 months they should be fast tracked to adoption. There are thousands of good foster families that want to love these children but you're not allowing that to happen.REPORT COMMENTS

I have a 13 year old daughter who spent 3 years in the system. As a result, she suffered more abuse then she would have, had she stayed with her mother. In addition, she has leaned to be a victim and blame everyone for her lot in life, never taking responsibility for anything. Had she and her brothers been adopted out within a year, year and a half of being removed from their mother, they would not be suffering like they are today.REPORT COMMENTS

When are the children ever going to matter??? Why do their rights never come in to play. The system is broken beyond belief. When will they stop using the children as collateral damage in their "reunification at any cost". That cost is usually the welfare and wellbeing of the children.REPORT COMMENTS

The state of care for our kids is unconscionable! A friend of mine just received a ruling today that the foster daughter who has been with them for 24 months is going back to birth mom who is living with an abusive boyfriend whom she called the cops just days before. Another friend had custody for over 18month, Birth dad shows up and is given unsupervised overnight visits. When the baby is returned she is in an old poopy diaper that has a pubic hair in its contents and unsupervised visits continue. Another friend has boys whose parents have violent backgrounds and it took 5 tries to the the .26 hearing. There is incompetence is making forms available to all parties so hearings get continued. There is blatant disregard for child safety by accelerating reunification with birth parents who have not worked the plan. Birth parents show at the 11th hour after having made no effort for more than a year and because of attending 1 NA meeting services are reinstated while these kids hang in limbo. Something must be done to get permanency and stability for these kids.REPORT COMMENTS

Such a travesty. Our foster system should be embarrassed by the stupidity of the people that work in the system that could give a rats*****about these poor children. Mainly the supervisors and the lawyers.REPORT COMMENTS
