Our actions now, decide what our future is going to look like. These children's current environment helps decide what kinda of adults they are going to become! We are so preoccupied with the children's parents, that we don't realize all we are doing is making more adults like them!

The system becomes part of the trauma. We need support for high quality foster and foster to adopt homes. We needs action by both the courts and agencies. Federal and state funding for CASA programs would help put additional eyes on the system and protect children's rights.

As a foster parent I have seen first hand how broken the system is, and its the children that suffer. Our foster care system needs a total shift from only the bio parents to also what is best for the kids

Please enforce this! The kids look to you to take care of them. Give them a permanent home in a timely fashion! They do not deserve to be felt like they are unwanted by a slow court system!

We have had several placements as foster parents who have returned home outside of the 15 month limitations and they returned home under less than ideal circumstances. We currently have a placement who has been in the system 22 months, (they have been with us for 15 months of that) and our kids are STILL in limbo as to weather they are coming or going. This happens too often. There are many loving families waiting to adopt and they get embittered seeing their kids come back and forth in and out of the system because the permenancy requirements are being manipulated by Biological parents, Laywers, and workers who are more concerned about litigation from those old enough to make this happen with little or no regard for the ACTUAL "best interest" of the children. It is heartbreaking to those of us love these children and those who DO move heaven and earth for these sweet, little ones that cannot speak for themselves, or hire attorneys, or effectively convey their hearts and emotions, or speak for their own best interest. (There are lots of workers that get into their jobs to help only to leave the jobs embittered because they realize they have no REAL power to help these innocent littles at all.) It is sad and frustrating seeing those you love go through this. And the effect it is having on these kids, They age out, become cynical, become defunct members of society, because the "Powers that be" are trying to force parents that are neither willing or able to care for these children have these kids forced on them again and again. The kids keep coming back, keep getting disappointed, keep getting angrier and more cynical, and eventually become a menace to society. Have no idea what a real family looks like and have no idea what stability is. Its not their fault. They had a loving foster family that was willing to give them a forever home and love these kids like they were their own, but then they were ripped out of that safe, stable environment and replaced in chaos because some scientific study said "Biology is better". It is not better if the end result is a person who can not function in society. Ant the cycle of abuse, neglect, and instability continue. This breaks my heart. And all I can do about it is love my kids as hard as I can while they are here and pray for them as hard as I can when they go. I propose that the officials making these decisions FOR foster kids become foster parents themselves and have to return the kids THEY have grown to love to people who will fail them again and again. And they may not be identified or given special favor because of their civic service. May gain bit of new perspective? Just a thought.
