There are MANY federal law enforcement agencies. Why in the world is Border Patrol being targeted for the biggest hit?REPORT COMMENTS

My husband has been an agent for many years and his salary is what pays our mortgage and pays for my graduate classes from the University of Arizona. I will have to postpone my masters degree in social work because we can not afford the tuition. We will also have to postpone starting a family and probably limiting ourselves to having only one child due to financial hardship. My husband was recently shot at by a drug smuggler. Without extra backup, criminals, like these are able to flee the scene and not be caught. With the announcement of the severe cuts to Homeland Security, I fear that criminals from Mexico see it as an incentive to become more violent and smuggler greater amounts of drugs more often. Please help us.REPORT COMMENTS

I think you are all clueless in DC as to what our border patrol actually does. Have any of you really gone with an agent that is in the field? I don't mean for a few hours, I mean for several days. I live in AZ and have seen illegals running thru the desert and jumping into a parked van along the highway, I also had a terrifying call one night from my daughter and husband with their 6 month old daughter and 4 year old son that had just been run into and off the highway from a car that was considered a runner that was trying to ward off the attention from drug runners so the border patrol would go after the runner in the car. She came up behind my daughter and her families mini van, it was about 10:00 at night, they had just left our house not 10 minutes before. This runner came up behind them doing sat least 80 on a 2 lane highway in the desert and tried to pass them on the shoulder of the highway, she lost control and rammed into the side where the baby was, if it weren't for my son in laws quick maneuvering of the car they would have all been killed. I'm proud to say that my son in law is a border patrol agent and my daughter has many days and nights that she wonders if he will come home...he has worked many long hours to protect our countries borders for the safety of us all. This is just welcoming the drug cartels and all illegals to come on into our country. If any agency should have overtime it should be the border patrol.....I challenge anyone in DC to come on down to Arizona and see the trash that is left and the mess in our beautiful desert and mountains. Walk and spend a day with our agents, you will be surprised....REPORT COMMENTS
