As an agent in southern Texas, let me assure you that we are already grossly understaffed on our "front line" down here, with an alarming amount of illegal aliens and narcotics making it into our county on a daily basis. These cuts to our overtime are only going to stretch our manpower so thin that the risk to agents will not be worth the risk of their lives without backup, and the amount of people and drugs making it though our borders will increase to the point that we may as well do away with border security if we are only staffed to catch 40-50 percent of what comes through. I urge you to consider these areas of our border that are still struggling to keep up with the flow of illegal traffic making it through. Also keep in mind, it takes manpower away from our border to stay inside the station and process all of the people that are apprehended. This reduces the amount of agents on the line able to work traffic by over 50 percent at times. This is irresponsible to allow our borders to go unprotected, with the possibility of terrorists, rapists, murderers, and all other types of criminals to flood the streets of America with their violence and narcotics that they bring with them.

I live near the northern border and trust that the Border Patrol is making this a better place to live. God bless them. Our nation's leadership needs to value their work for the security they provide our entire county. I cannot understand why someone thought it was a good idea to threaten our security.

A 40% pay cut is an outrage and unacceptable for ANYONE! Especially in this fragile economy. Not to mention it's effects will be felt by the nation through it's security and the way we will be able to operate.

The new CBP commisioner should be considered for treason charges for his lack luster attitude towards national security.
