Horse slaughter has never stopped starvation or neglect. It is not humane and further regulation while admirable, will not solve the problem. The number of jobs created by these plants is next to nothing. These horses are not bred to be slaughtered, they are bred to be show horses, race horses and pets. They are cognizant beings that "know" what is happening, contrary to herd animals such as cattle, raised solely for their meat.Nov 18th, 2011Someone from Smyrna, DE writes:
so ****ed right now that the ag. committee passed the fy2012 bill without excluding horse meat. now it's up to the president to sign it, what a betrayal to our horses! i do not want my taxes to fund this for 5 million dollars! and u say we are in a deficit? u cut funding from ss, medicare, etc. but u find 5 million to kill innocent horses? u know there medicines in horses which can kill or make u deathly sick if humans eat it don't u? i don't want my children or grandchildren eating horse! please veto this bill make them put that jim moran admendment in there excluding the funding for horse meat inspectors. thank u!!REPORT COMMENTS
