It would be nice if ALL companies had to follow the FMLA law, not just employers with 50 or more employees. Everyone should have the same freedom to grieve after a catastrophic loss. A large percentage of us work for smaller employers. My company allowed for just 2 days but was gracious and allowed me the week I asked for when I lost my husband.
