Being on the other spectrum of research (computer science), I believe political science is not to be be deemed meritless by politicians. I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science doing research on what gets young people of immigrant background to identify with and participate in the societies they live in -- because alienation and extremism can make headway where this civic engagement is absent.
