This data is important for understanding our cultural needs. It has been used by sociologists to see pertinent patterns and develop effective policies. I don't know where this fear has come from. We are a facebook age, but we fear government knowing who we are.

ACS data are invaluable for academia and research, for teaching, for the public, and for each and every one of the very politicians voting to discontinue the survey.

Lack of this vital information will lead to less reasoned public policy decisions, not better ones. Retain the ACS.

America is still a world leader in the data collection that permits good public deliberation. When you consider that this will have virtually no impact on the debt or deficit and the huge benefits of the ACS it is simply unbelievable that Congress would vote to eliminate funding for it.

The ACS is a critical source for our understanding of our society and our economy. Canada has abolished the equivalent of the ACS (its long-form Census material) to the great detriment of its research community and its ability to understand important transformations in its economy and social fabric.

Reducing ACS funding will proportionately reduce the government's ability to efficiently and effectively target public money. It's a clear step backwards in serving the people.

The ACS is an essential data set for producing research results that will inform the public as well as policy makers about social and economic patterns in American society.

It is unimaginable why politicians would prefer to make less informed policy decisions by stopping this survey. Moreover, social science teaching and research rely on these data.

Please do not eliminate this important source of data on U.S. citizens. Losing it, we will have little idea about the state of our nation and democracy at the individual level.
