I served as a part of a support team for a dear friend with ALS. She died last month after dealing gallently with an extremely difficult disease. I fully support research into all aspects of disease clusters--including use of precautionary criteria--- if a cluster is suspected- let's err on the side of caution and do the studies to decide if, indeed, there is a cluster.REPORT COMMENTS

I was diagnosed with AML - Acute Milocitic Lekemia Jan 26, 2005. It litteraly changed my entire life overnight and without any warning. I fought my way through treatment for more than 20 months. The only reason I did not die was the fact that GOD had another plan for me. It was not my time to die. I'm living on Social Security Disablity. I suffered life lastitng mental and physical disabilities. My life is not over, but is very different.REPORT COMMENTS

I have a daughter & son-in-law who had no choice but to sell their home as a short sale in the Acreage, West Palm Beach Florida due to a cancer cluster. Too many children were/are diagnosed with cancer from the Acreage. My grandson was born with a disability, so it was time for them to move. Vote as though it's your grandchild or child living in the effected areas. Do the right thing for the children. They are our future!REPORT COMMENTS

I am the mother of a leukemia survivor who was part of a childhood cancer cluster on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, Ala. I founded a nonprofit agency aimed at researching the scope and possible environmental links to a spate of rare cancers and neurological diseases in our area after Alabama health officials failed to complete health assessments or begin environmental testing. Our community, and so many others throughout the U.S., have been forced to initiate, fund and organize their own studies because public health agencies aren't doing their jobs and protecting our children. I live in Washington State where a large garbage hauler has sited a huge garbage dump over our sole source aquifer. this dump has been in operation for about 10 years. The county, state, EPA have rubber stamped every permit handed to them by this large waste hauler. We are now experiencing cancer cluster within a one mile radius of the dump. The only agency who went to bat for the citizens was the army corps of engineers who said "NO" to the placement of this dump. The dump sued the ACOE for millions and won. We are now facing a waste to energy plant the needs to be rubber stamped. It's time we stop this insanity!REPORT COMMENTS

I am from Lewiston Idaho and I am shocked at the number of cancer cases in Lewiston. I was born in 1958 and thoughtout my lifetime I have personally known over 100 people who have had cancer anywhere from 2 years older to 40 years younger than myself. This seems excessively high for a town that has a population of only approx 30,000 people (not counting Clarkston). I have now lived in the Portland Oregon area for approx half of my life and have only known approx 8 people here that have had cancer. Something is going on in that area and no one seems to know what or why.REPORT COMMENTS
