In honor of my daughter, Matilda, who has been battling brain cancer since she was 15 months old - you should not begin life fighting for it! I grew up in Washington County, Idaho (near Trevor's Valley County.) Our county also has an above-average number of cancer victims among people who once lived there (including 4 of my father's 10 siblings although there had never been previous cancer in his family and his ancestors lived to be old people.) Our part of Idaho received large doses of radiation from both nuclear bomb tests at Yucca Flats, Nevada and radiation fallout from Hanford in Washington state. My mother (and 2 of her sisters) have also had cancer, although it doesn't run in her family either. And many other people I know. Many of them have already died from cancer. It's possible elements in the region are STILL contaminated from radiation and could have caused Trevor's cancer. As a child, my parents kept me in the house on the days when radioactive "ash" was falling from the sky after bomb tests in Nevada. So I'm sure our crops, milk, water supplies, etc. were contaminated. (I understand cancer victims in other states are receiving compensation from the government but Idaho was never included even though we're listed on the "red zone" for radiation from Yucca Flats and several Idaho counties are on Hanford's "downwind list.") It's time our government took responsibility for endangering their own citizens with radiation.REPORT COMMENTS
