Bought overpriced crappy home for $135K in 2008. The same house will not sell for $99K in 2015. I can't sell it so I'm renting it out at a loss. Now that I moved to a nicer neighborhood, the IRS wants a lump sum of $4,500; All because I chose not to short sell or let the bank foreclose. Thanks Uncle Sam.

I purchased my home in December 2008. I now have a loan that I am required to pay back, but if I would have waited 2 weeks, I would not have this loan and received $8000.This should have been forgiven when the law changed for the current home-buyers starting in 2009. The remaining tax loan needs to be excused.

Must pay full amount if property becomes a rental. If your home is underwater and you can't sell it. Then, you shouldn't be punished because you are forced to rent it out.

If people participate and choose to be involved with making our economy better, then get tossed aside and left out months later. The government will not have the trust of those support the democracy of our economy, nor will they forget.

So, due to the declining housing market, many taxpayers took advantage of the $7,500 tax credit for first time home buyers in 2008. Just 3 months later, Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This new bill increased the tax credit to $8,000 and that $8,000 didn't have to be repaid. However, if taxpayers took the $7,500, you couldn't take the new $8,000 credit. And taxpayers were still required to repay the $7,500 back over 15 years. How is this fair? Many are struggling as it is. This bill needs repealed immediately and the remaining tax needs excused.

Please consider removing this tax burden each year that many fellow Americans have to deal with. On top of our homes being underwater, we have to repay something that folks who bought a year later don't have too. It doesn't make sense, and would free up this money to be spent in the economy moving forward.

I had to short sale the same house I got my First Homebuyers credit for. Due to a job lay-off and my home value lowering to only half its value I short sold my home. I am now fighting with the IRS to forgive this loan even though I took a loss of over half of what I paid for it.

This is so unfair to be singled out while other families have gotten off free with more money non the less. I know several that purchased under the free $8000 program and have either purchased newer homes or lost their home to foreclosure and didn't really care because they really were not losing any of their hard earned monies. I still live in my home, continue to pay back $500 a month which now is a very hardship for me since I am divorced and have child support to pay...but am hanging in there, paying Uncle Sam over $1200 over my withholdings for 2014.

This is completely unfair. I can not express enough how discriminated I feel. To continue to let this injustice stand is unacceptable. This must be pushed to the forefront and dealt with as soon as possible. I have become a slave to my own government. Disgusting.

This is highly discriminatory. I have multiple job offers that would improve the life of my family however, I can not afford a large tax bill. My neighbor who purchased their home 6 months after me received a higher credit and no pay back. I feel like a prisoner in my own home.
