I can't think of any valid reason why it should have been banned in the first place.s

Preventing proxy marriages is just the state of Texas saying that women aren't smart enough to decide who they want to marry.

The bill's authors and TDCJ need to be held accountable and the loophole to avoid fault needs to brought to light. Infringing on this right is just another way for Texas to strip inmates of some of the vary basic HUMAN (inmates are humans! ! ) rights! !

We can fight for same sex marriage rights, but then deny marriage between one man and one woman just because one of them is incarcerated? Not right. Please fix this. Add precautions like notary on both sides..

It has already been decided by the Supreme Court that you cannot deny prisoners the right to get married. People who have loved ones in prison often don't have the financial resources to fight injustices like this. Whether it's proxy marriages or some other method, Texas inmates have a right to be able to get married.

Marriage is a civil right under the Constitution. Please amend the law to allow the rights of the inmates.

I think denying a marriage for an inmate is an abuse of their Civil Rights, whether a person is incarcerated or not is irregardless. If a man and a woman wish to marry, then it should not be prohibited due to incarceration.

To not allow inmates to marry is in violation of a 1987 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Turner v. Safley, which states an inmate has a constitutional right to marry. Not only have you taken the right away from an inmate but you have also removed it from those of us that are not incarcerated but wish to marry someone that is. There are several states that do not allow proxy marriage BUT they accommodate the inmate?s constitutional right to be able to get married and they all do it in different ways. Tx is the only one that does not..You should have to abide by the laws set forth as well.
