After serving in the Marine Corps in Vietnam, my husband suffered with this for years before anyone diagnosed it and he was able to receive help. Please support our vets by giving them whatever help they need.Jul 8th, 2010Someone from Triangle, VA writes:

As a US Navy veteran myself, I believe it is important that we do all we can for our troops physical and emotional well-being. This includes ensuring they are able to deal with the stress of combat both during their tour of duty and when they return to civilian life.REPORT COMMENTS

It just makes compassionate sense to have a mandatory 're-entry' program for our vets. It would be an honor to have my hard earned tax money redirected to such a program.REPORT COMMENTS

I have long been ashamed of the way our country treats its veterans. Now, more than ever, we cannot continue to ignore our responsibility to our active duty and past war vets. What does that say about us as a country???REPORT COMMENTS

My dad was in WWII and had difficulty his whole life. He died at the age of 62 from a heart attack. While he did not commit suicide, he was forever stressed by the fear of his military service, and yet was embarrassed to admit he needed help. The years of stress, nightmares, and shame, eventually took their toll.REPORT COMMENTS

I am signing this petition for my grandfather. As a soldier in WW2 he fought in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. Growing up, I always wondered why he got up every morning at 6am to have a beer, and why he would drink throughout the day every day. Also, he was emotionally aloof and would anger easily. As an adult, I now wonder what type of person he would have been if he could have gotten the help he needed, and did not have to turn to alcohol to cope with what he saw in the war.REPORT COMMENTS

These men and women serve us, our country, and they deserve better care than we are giving them now. The suicide rate and homelessness of our veterans is totally unacceptable. The need is clear, it is time for us to step up.REPORT COMMENTS
