HOW I GOT MY XMAS LOAN FROM HALIFAX BANK PLC!!! My name is Amelie Carton, from South Carolina, I am a single mom with two kids. I want to speak the good deal done to me by HALIFAX BANK PLC they showed me light by giving me loan for my daughter's medication and for Xmas as well after been scammed by 4 different Internet lender, who are nothing but scam they promise to give me a loan after making me pay fee which yield nothing at all. i lost allot of money in the process. Parents of special needs children are struggling to provide for our children and drowning in student loan debt. I had planned on working extra shifts to pay back my student loans, but I didn't plan on having a special needs child. I had to quit a good job with good benefits because I had to take care of my child. Although I have a college degree, I frequently worry about making ends meet. My son has multiple food allergies, two of which are uncommon, and it is making daycare impossible to find outside an individual nanny who would cost as much as I could bring in outside the home. So I spend the time with my son to protect him and care for him. We pay on an income based repayment plan, but we can't even cover the interest so the total debt goes up. I would love to at least see a program where the interest can be waived/forgiven when you take care of a child with a disability.REPORT COMMENTS

The letter presented on this page is very compelling and while i do fully agree with the hardship of caring for a disable child , all on my own ; i do not have a spouse to share the responsibility with so i cannot work . My daughter is disable with numerous developmental issues and ongoing conditions as well that require weekly therapy and special needs. I do not fully agree that all people that recieve assistance from the government are sitting around doing nothing. While that is another issue for discussion along the lines of discrimination I will not state my opinion . I too have student loans that i cannot afford to pay back. I am a single parent and i cannot work due to my daughter needing special care . She has many ongoing appointments with therapist and specialist . It is very over demanding to care for a disable child because u have to be there every waking moment where he or she is and has to be without option because noone else can do the duty of being the parent to your child . I believe that student loan forgiveness should be considered in depth because us parents that are fighting this goodfight of caring for disable children cannot be in two places at one time and we should not be face with our child not receiving proper care in order to repay student loans.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a parent of a disabled child. I work full time and have 2 other children. I currently pay for medical insurance through my job but it does not cover for medical equipment which will be needed. I have to pay for the TEFRA insurance that will provide equipment and extra coverage for what is not covered by my primary insurance. The only problem is that this will cost me up to $375 a month and trying to pay my student loan at $535 a month would not suffice. I don't get help from public aid for food nor other needs that my child might need. I am the only provider for my children and this is causing me a lot of stress. There should be a program in place for parents who are working with disabled children. However, the cost of the expenses that are not considered medical, but need for Autism treatment, are high. Our childcare cost are higher. We don't recieve financial help. I am a mother of three . My oldest has autism who is going to 4 in sept. My middle child has a speech delay. My infant is displaying sensory sentivity. Therefor I stay home with my children to make sure that they get all the therapies to help them reach their milestones. My husband is working two jobs to make ends meet while paying my student loans. He makes to much to get any government assistance and we were scammed during the process of consolidation and we are still haunted by student loans that were supposed consolidated.
