We pay taxes on everything else and it is disgraceful to even consider taxing pain medication for those of us who suffer from chronic pain and have even to HAVE THESE MEDICATIONS AND ON A LOW INCOME ALREADY BECAUSE OF THESE INCURABLE DISEASES LIKE ARACHNOIDITIS, TARLOV CYST DISEASE, RSD/CRPS, MS, AND OTHER DISEASES THAT HAVE NO CURE!!! SHAME on you CONGRESSMAN who are trying to implement this BILL because you have NO CLUE what it's like to suffer with these diseases!! DO ANY OF YOU HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO SUFFER WITH ANY CHRONIC PAIN?? DO YOU EVEN CARE??? YOU HAVE NO SOUL AT ALL!! 😠

Typical reactionary response for irresponsible drug abusers that punishes the innocent responsible citizens don't want but need pain medication. Stop abusing the ill, injured and responsible patients and their doctors & pharmacists for the addicts that we see through immediately. I was not happy about having to use opiates at all because of the stigma that already existed 10 years ago. I have not increased my usage, dosage or asked to. I was however not able to keep my pain management relationship because they freaked out and wanted to take away my meds because of all of this hysteria all of a sudden. Lastly,a lot of us would gladly give up our pain medication if we were free to use natural benefits of marijuana. I have Lupus, Systemic Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia with bad disks in my neck, upper and lower back. Way before any doctor figured out any of the testing I was going through I was introduced to edibles, tea and infusions that not only stopped the pain but stopped the cramping that I now deal with 24/7 and no manufactured drug can touch it without very heavy side effects. It also made me feel balanced so I could be more active. But it's illegal here in Ga and I'm stuck with the legal choice that you now propose to penalize with another tax. Now does that make any sense? Do the right things, do tax a problem in hopes that you can cure the disease of addiction leaving real pain sufferers with even less money every month and consider legalization, tax it and then experiment on the abusers. But for right now stop punishing the sick with historically unfair practices, we're getting tired of living in a country where leadership is blind to OUR plight!

....again taxing those that can least afford or stand the discomfort of another dip into their pockets. There must be a better solution for those in pain.

Here we go again...CPP are only trying to have some quality of life and we value our life, but the addict who doesnt value their own life, breaks the law is still just a poor victim. Grow up everyone and start taking responsibility for your choices. CPPs shouldn't have to pay a tax because these criminals want to get high.

I hope everyone has seen the movie Misery with Kathy Bates & James Caan? That's exactly what should be done to doctors refusing to treat pain & the idiots wanting to tax medication for people with disabilities, chronic pain, permanently injured veterans, elderly & those who've just completed major surgeries. Let's see how these bill makers feel as they experience, illnesses, broken bones, spines,etc...without pain medicines. THEN maybe they'll realize the necessity & that antidepressants don't trick the mind into not feeling PAIN!!! Bill makers beware, your greed ride on the Lilly Go Round is almost over!! Elected officials need to kindly remove themselves from our doctor offices & pharmacies. Lastly, physicians should be indicted for accepting bonuses, awards and incentives for prescribing meds from ANY pharmaceutical company. That's a clear conflict of interest! Open your eyes 👀 people!

If you could tax ONLY the abusers this would be fine, but why are you placing yet another burden on those of us in chronic pain who use the drugs for a better life?!?! This is truly insane. May all of you who promote such things be diagnosed with chronic pain in your lifetime.

I am a chronic pain patient. I am not a problem or burden. I do not need additional taxes placed on me to cause yet another burden on my already difficult life. Imagine taxing HIV medication, cancer meds, insulin. The idea of this tax is offensive. Every representative that votes for this tax needs to be replaced in the next elections.

First all you people who feel the need to be in our medical business need to learn the difference between drug abuse and drug dependent. I know how and when to use my medications. I am an adult that has had many treatments and surgeries to stop my pain. I am allergic to many pain meds. I am not going to look to take meth or heroine or try to take my life. I am tired of all you people lumping us all in one group. Let my doctor decide how to treat me and with what to use. You are not doctors nor are you mine. I should not be punished because someone else needs rehab because they are addicts. We will all remember who votes for this and you may just be out of a job next election. Find a more constructive project to do.

This tax would produce a hardship on chronic pain sufferers like myself. I realize it was stated that our health insurances would absorb the additional cost of our medications. If you look at what it would do to our premiums in the long run, that statement just isn't true. Please listen to your constituents and vote this bill down.

I have taken this opportunity to share my heartbreaking story in hopes these witch hunting Opiate ill informed skeptics will read and understand that I would have no life without Medically prescribed Opiates by a physicians care and strictly monitored monthly urine and blood test. Please remember that An Opinion Before A Thorough Investigation Is The Epitome Of Ignorance! And that a little more compassion from the Medical Field and its representatives could have saved my beautiful Stepdaughters life. Let me say this! A person who has a addictive personality will abuse anything that helps them feel better. I have taken Oxycontin for 12 years , I have had 20 major surgery's in 9 years. I have so much physical pain I can not even get out of bed with ouit pain meds and when I run out I run out and just lay in bed praying the Lord relieve me of this horrible condition and I pray God you pain med skeptics never go through what I go through everyday of my life when the only thing you have to do is threaten what help we can receive, Shame on those witch hunters! There will always be drug abuse and as the so called war on drugs has miserably failed so this will! All they do is stoke and aid the drug pushers business to knew heights in the Black Market of Heroin while depriving folks as me the only available legal medicine we need to have some sort of temporary relief where we can help our selves do the basics of life like care for ourselves. ! My Stepdaughter committed suicide 4 years ago because of being treated like a drug addict by her family and doctors when all along she suffered from Lupus and Fibro which I believe was brought on by a deadly car crash at 18 , she told me between that which I was being put through and what they were putting her through she was not going to live her life in such a hell brought on by people like you that are on a witch hunt to out law Opiates and pain meds that give us some sort of a life . As a retired Police officer and worked indirectly close to the DEA, you people do not have a clue how thrilled you are making the illegal opiate trade and think of my Late Stepdaughter as you continue on with this bull******movement to outlaw opiates! Just like the slaughter of children at Sandy Hook if there would have just been gun laws , my God they were Gun Laws , the guns that murdered all those 20 children were all registered and owned by a school teacher! You fight Drug Addiction in Elementary education by teaching all children the dangers of Booze and Tobacco which if these witch hunters want for us to know the real truth but they do not. I miss my Stepdaughter a so much and some of us will continue on the fight to protect our right to feel better and function without fear of these witch hunters trying to convince us to commit suicide . And they are trying to do exactly THAT! The under line real truth is THESE witch hunters would rather us Chronic Pain sufferers commit suicide are and DRINK all the BOOZE we can drink! The

This is just another slap in the face for law abiding pain patients. Comments comparing this tax to alcohol and tobacco are ridiculous. We are talking about medicine here, not guilty pleasures!
