Improved and standardized data collection will have a positive impact on epidemiological research so that we can come to a clearer understanding of why stillbirth happens, and how it can be prevented. Public awareness is essential and a campaign could provide tools to help families maintain healthy pregnancies. Please support this legislation. Your vote will make a difference in the lives of the nearly 30,000 families every year who endure this tragedy. Your vote may also prevent others in the future from having to experience the unimaginable grief of infant death. There is nothing more devasating than losing a child and then having your Dr tell you that there was "no medical reason" for the loss and that "these things just happen". As Amber B. from Fort Bragg, NC mentioned Cholestasis... I too believe undiagnosed Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy was the cause of my son's death but will never know due to the lack of testing from my Drs and also the LACK OF KNOWLEDGE from all Drs in my area.
