I recently lost my wonderful, healthy 11 1/2 month old grandson. Now I watch as my daughter and son-in-law try to recover enough to move forward. No one should have to experience this pain. There has been progress made with research to understand Sudden Infant Death, but still no conclusions or consensus on prevention. There is no greater fear than to have your perfectly healthy child just stop breathing for no apparent reason. I don't want anyone else to experience that loss and wonder what went wrong and what could have been done to prevent this. I am a nurse that cares for families who suffer these losses. Losing a baby at any age before or after birth is an unthinkable tragedy. For parents, it is a life long, life altering, unbearable loss.
